BP is the only refinery in WA anyway, so technically it'll still be BP.

Usually other Brands put there own magic additives in the blend...

but otherwise it'll mean 98 will be easier to get in those situations where you would normally have to hunt for a BP... i think everyone here has had that experience at least once.

ok... who here every time they fill up on bp ultimate put a bottle of octane booster in as well? ive heard that the fuel in japan is 101 octane and that with our fuel we should put in a bottle of octane booster aswell

that would probably make your fuel 98.1 octane and give your plugs a beautiful orange colour

Dan, there actually some good octane boosters out there. Besides orange is pretty.

Can anyone CONFIRM where Peak get their 98 octane from. Is it in fact BP or is it from Singapore?

Well this is great news. The only reason I went to BP was because they were the only ones who had it, now that peak and caltex do i'll be able to shop around. Sure i'll probably only save a few cents each time I fill up, but it's more about the principal  (and the fact that I hate BP because they are always more expensive and bump up their prices randomly with no valid justification for doing so except to rip people off)

Well they all change their prices randomly. BP is no different.

Anyway why do you hate them so much. Just think where we would all be if BP didn't sell 98 Octane?

Just been on the phone to Peak. They often source their finsihed product from Singapore, but the chemist said their 98 is sourced from a Mobil refinery and is the same spec as the Utimate. I assume Caltex is sourced from one of their east coast refineries but I have not been able to confirm this.

Forgein ayyy! Good info skylion.

Should be cheaper but wont be as they colude to keep prices artificially high. Depending on what, if anything, is used to boost the octane rating, toluene (methylbenzene or phenylmethane) or ethanol it is reasonable to expect your tune up to change. I would be very careful with trying different fuel, check your AFR's and be prepared to make the changes. Hp gains have been made by Skyliners on the East Coast using Ethanol boosted fuels. Caveat emptor

Nicking fuel from the airport LOL mmmmm JetA1

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the 2025 build re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I quite rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.

    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
