Not really, just pointless trying to help people that dont want it.

wrxhoon has summed it up perfectly. I need say no more.

Its either you believe or you dont, and if you dont believe... its more likely than not that you will when your pistons eat a cermic breakfast

Oh, btw, making it richer wont save it from pegging a turbo wheel

At least he will get to blow it up himself, I didn't , someone else did it for me .

I think even then he won't believe he will think his pistons melted, maybe to much carbon?? He will try to find something to blaim other than the ceramic shit of the exhaust tubo wheel..

Geez guys, didnt know I touched you so deeply- its the internet, relax.

You have your opinion, I have mine.

Have I missed something here. I asked a while ago "whats the most boost you have run RELIABLY" on your RB26, no probs. Any more then 14 psi is a risk. OK, noted, advice taken!

I did my tests, its still running the same boost before the intercooler as what it did before with the stock cooler. Because the IC that is on it flows more, it resulted in less restriction giving more boost at the maniold.

Sure there may be some additional exhaust pressure from the increase in power.

Why get upset? Im not going to run any more boost then what it does already.

Im not pushing any more boost then what its been on for the past year.

Now all of a sudden, my turbo's are at risk?? And my engine will eat ceramic dust? Maybe I should have measure exhaust back pressure before and after. Just to keep you guys happy..

I am not giving you guys a hard time on your theory, I respect that and even asked to look at the pistons, then I get my head bitten off? Who gives a shit, what do you have to loose.

The Japs have had more of these for longer then us, so has the UK. I dont recall any mention of engines blowing up when a turbo goes until recently, and its only in australia.

Cubes- I asked the tuner about it. He already tried it when working for advan and you cant run more timing or leaner on a stock internal RB26 and the boost level wont justify it. You just get to the point of increasing timing and it doesnt increase toque/power, keep going a few more degrees and it will knock--- EDIT Actually come to think of it the cooler intake temps would be of benefit

the fact of the matter is simple, it can and will fail soon

the mean time between failure is rapidly advancing on 15 year turbochargers.

if you can afford to rebuild it keep going and dont worry

if you cant and dont want to fork out the 5 or 6k to rebuild it and buy new turbochargers then replace the stockers now. either with oem steel wheelies, larger steel wheelies or some other bolt on stock-er-look-a-likes

but for god sakes, dont keep going thinking it wont fail, cos it will

and when it does, youll be upset cos it will be rebuild time

we dont care that you are making xyz on zyx boost or xzy on stock turbo's

but you need to know that its a timebomb and youll regret it when it fails, unless you have unlimited money

thanks for the pics on the fet coils, it was enough for what I wanted. I just wanted to check if they were the same as some coils I saw in japan last month (they weren't ;) )

best of luck with it. btw, what is the record at EC etc?

i can tell you that you should definately make more top end with the cam geard, and more midrange. you can balance one against the other, but a gain of both is possible.

"...Reallyonly trying to prove a pont that 400 rw hp can be made with bolt on's and stock turbo's..."
I have nothing to prove to you guys,

Sure about that

I doubt it will need a rebuild, the tune is safe. Timing is realistic and AFR's are on the rich side. No lean spool, tuned by one of the best in Sydney who tunes all over the world.

Lets get past the my dads bigger than your dad crap and talk..., I have arguably the best tuner in Perth tune my car and his words to me were and i'm paraphrasing here "It will make 450 at the wheels at 1.4 bar but i wont be able to tell you for how long". And that's the point, I bet I can make 500 at the wheels...but for how long. Hooray for people experimenting cause thats how we move forward; but mate its been done and done and done, there is nothing to prove. Except to your mates. You will need a rebuild because nothing last forever and certainly not a a 17 year old RB

I have an 89R that makes 430RWHP on the original build...I blew one of my turbos at 10K kilometers ago at 13 psi/336 RWHP (from memory). My engine is still making good HP and shows no signs of expiring due the ingestion of a ceramic wheel, But there is a body of evidence to say that... (A) Ceramic wheels dont last long at +13psi in a car driven in a "spirited fashion" and (B) Engines expire when that happens.

Just because you dont believe it doesnt make it go away. Get past the ceramnic dust issue on concentrate on the very probably having to fix a broken car issue

As for your original request for help.

Cam gears... to give you more tuning options

Dumps...proven HP on investment.

injectors...maxing them out soon

Fuel pump..its old now

Your a smart guy by the sounds of it I dont know why you've asked for peoples advice but they've given it to you. You've however seem to have chosen to ignore it. Good luck with that, really. ;)

I think it might have something to do with global warming

lol

most of these so called "eggsperts", giving advice, don't own a GTR

Happy Valentine's day...hope y'all get a date

Chill

I don't know about you dude but I have owned several GTRS , I still have 2 in my garage and whats more , I can't remember how many times I have built an RB26 .

Having said that I'm definitely NOT an expert, I just post facts, what I have seen with my own eyes.

    • Okay. Final round of testing done. Got a friend to hook up a fancy scanner to the car and we also ran some compression and leakdown tests, she is healthy.  The MAF was definitely the culprit. So for future reference anyone with similar issues that find this thread. I suggest the following steps, in order of affordability:   Check your spark plugs for any fouling, replace plugs if they are bad or re adjust the gaps making it narrower (0.8mm would be good). Check every coil's resistance with a multimeter. It can be done by probing the IB and G pins on the coil pack. Resistance should be around 1.4 (+/- 0.1) Ohms Check the MAF. If you have Nissan connect or a good scanner with the 14 adapter it should allow you to see the voltage on the MAF reading should be around 1.1 - 1.2V when car is idling. But if you don't, buy a new MAF from Amazon and test, then return it. (For instance, I got a Chinese one for $40 that was reporting 1.3v on idle). If you still have scanner, you can run tests on the injectors to see if they are working, just remember to unplug the fuel pump fuse/relay and have no pressure on the line. Then listen for the noises that the injectors make. Clean/replace injectors as needed. Once you find the issue and fix, order thousands of dollars worth of OEM parts to refresh unrelated things (Optional)   PS: Thanks to the absolute legends of this forum for the responses and help to someone that went a bit over their head. • Ha ha ha, so they stopped the bearings spinning on the one you want, but then decided the crank hub should slip instead 馃槢   Stick to RB, at least you can work on it yourself. And now it doesn't smell of vapour   Also I still believe there's a chance your new flap doesn't "pop", as even though the engine might breath hard, it has a direct path with no restriction to the inlet, which when on boost should pull a bit of suction for you. If you do get pressure in the catch can id be very intrigued. Time to put a boost gauge on it, and a session at the track, then solid cover your vent and do another session
    • Oh nah, S55 doesn't eat bearings, just the crank hub slips lol.
    • When鈥檚 the tow ball on the 33 coming? 馃檭
    • I welcome any basic question that can help haha. Yes it has 2 unis but the driveshaft is a one piece and the unis are welded without a slip yoke at each end.   What's funny is anytime I've ever had wheel vibrations it's always been in the front so I automatically assume it will lead to steering wheel shake and not chassis vibration. With that being said, I never considered looking at my rear wheel balance... I have doubts though as this wasn't an issue before I pulled the motor and trans but is still very much worth a look. I'll do that tonight after work. Thanks.
