is andrew lawson the RX7 driver? Wouldn't realy bother me, I just want to go racing.

Black sparkly S14 200sx-r (you would know it, its load shooting material).

Running within the top 20 at Rally Tas is a great effort and good on you for getting out there, a point of difference like running a ute or a wild color is always the best way to draw a sponsor.

I heard you guys had some pretty wild looking angles out of corners on stages! How did the tyres hold up?

I can see John's point of view, however minor the contact might have been he now has a damaged car and as Tasmanian circuit racing is hardly about sheep stations any damage is a pain in the arse and its not hard to run very close and not contact, but has to be something allowed for obviously.

Wore a set out coming into savage (i think most ppl did), its not too tyre friendly with all the body roll.

Its understandable stu, no one wants to be repairing their cars all the time, but i guess its the risk you take when you take your car out there. Close racing is the best though, its almost boring watching a spread field.

a "sorry mate" after the race would of made me feel a whole lot better. these things happen and we take the risk but there is no reason to it on purpose (not saying he did).

good to know he ran top 20 in the rally. since our lap times where nearly the same, so might I have. and I bet its had tons more work done on it than mine!! For the record, mine is still 70% standard.

There were black marks on the rear bumper of his car too, but i didn't hear him complaining, thats racing. (sorry im not trying to get up you, your the one out there racing and im standing on the sideline), but it just annoys me what ppl keep saying about it, sure its not ideal, but it does a bloody good job for what it is!

As for mods, i wouldn't call pedders lowered springs a mod!

What has yours got (done to it)

well if its got black marks on it i dont think it was from me. i was fired up and did try to return the favour, but i didnt feel any contact. thats why i had to drop back, i overheated. nothing wrong with close racing, but if you cant do it and not touch...... there's prob nothing wrong with the car( i called it stupid because i had my nose out of joint) but a car dont drive itself.

kings lowered springs, pod filter, 3'' exhaust, strut bar, front and rear camber arms, race tryes. a bigger interccoler is going on it now. the rest is standard.

Raw (Natsoft) race results: http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....25/02/2007.BASK Last race was Targa A, B & C, some details are a bit dodgy (e.g. there was only one S2000 racing, not two)

Very interesting race that one as well

Its going to take some doing to tame the wild beast that Andy has unleashed on everyone with his black beast.

Who has what it takes to do so???

Considering the gearbox is worth than the resale value of my car id say not me .

Can anyone tell me just how much power it has in race tune?

eleventy billion horspower!!! :)

I thought it would be a little faster than that......maybe yet to get it sorted though.

Would be incredibly close between the 200SX-R and Tim's Rex!!! What a battle that would be!

I had a good day out there, got rather burnt though.

the move to the new box would allow more pony's to be released as he went thru a number of RB25 boxes previously. i think most reliability issues are have been worked through now. awesome car.

i remeber when he ran the thing at targa as basically a standard road car with a bolt in cage when new... how times change!

haha funny you say that, theyre trying to clean the hq series up (have been for 2seasons just about), jeez we cop shit if we hit too hard :D . on that note ive raced beside every single hq out there without putting a mark on mine nor their car :D

been like that since the beginning. that's one reason ive never been interested in driving one of those.

mistakes happen but your proof you can do it.

    • For sure, bromance with common shit box interests.
    • People like Johnny Dose Bro might be laughing at my post because I accidentally added 100mm to my numbers. 350-355 is indeed the lower limit. 450 is off-road Skyline spec.
    • What is the "compromise" that you think will happen? Are you thinking that something will get damaged? The only things you have to be concerned about with spherical jointed suspension arms are; Arguments with the constabulary wrt their legality (they are likely to be illegal for road use without an engineering certificatation, and that may not be possible to obtain). A lot more NVH transmitted through to the passengers (which is hardly a concern for those with a preference for good handling, anyway). Greatly increased inspection and maintenance requirements (see above points, both).   It is extremely necessary to ask what car you are talking about. Your discussion on strut tops, for example, would be completely wrong for an R chassis, but be correct for an S chassis. R32s have specific problems that R33/4 do not have. Etc. I have hardened rubber bushes on upper rear control arms and traction rods. Adjustable length so as to be able to set both camber and bump steer. You cannot contemplate doing just the control arms and not the traction arms. And whatever bushing you have in one you should have in the other so that they have similar characteristics. Otherwise you can get increased oddness of behaviour as one bushing flexes and the other doesn't, changing the alignment between them. I have stock lower rear arms with urethane bushes. I may make changes here, these are are driven by the R32's geometry problems, so I won't discuss them here unless it proves necessary. I have spherical joints in the front caster rods. I have experienced absolutely no negatives and only positives from doing so. They are massively better than any other option. I have sphericals in the FUCAs, but this is driven largely by the (again) R32 specific problems with the motion of those arms. I just have to deal with the increased maintenance required. Given how much better the front end behaves with the sphericals in there.....I'd probably be tempted to go away from my preference (which is not to have sphericals on a road car, for 2 of the 3 reasons in the bulleted list above), just to gain those improvements. And so my preference for not using sphericals (in general) on a road car should be obvious. I use them judiciously, though, as required to solve particular problems.
    • Aren't we already on one? SAU unforgettable bromance.
    • Easiest way to know is to break out the multimeter and measure it when cold, then measure all the resistances again once it gets hot enough to misfire. Both the original ignitor and the J Replace version. Factory service manual will have the spec for the terminal measurements.
