Hi ppls

I know alarms is a very popular topic and all, and yes, I have done a search on the forum for alarms and read the posts about em, but I don't seem to find much mention of an alarm that offers:

>= 3 immobilisation pts

remote start

ability to add aftermarket turbo timer

Those are pretty much the only features (apart from the usual alarm stuff) that I am looking for

- I heard Brandt may be able to pop a TT on, but some say there are problems

- I know Cobra alarms allow TTs but no remote start

- Boomerang has a remote start and TT, but no provisions for an aftermarket one, and apparently only 1 immob pt (WTF?)

Can anyone help identify any alarms which provide those features?

Thanks

kW

You could try AUTOWATCH. Its called the 288RLI. They have remote start but have two immobilser circuits with and extra auxillary immobiliser circuit which you'll need an extra relay for. Autowatch also have other alarms which have 3 immobiliser circuits but no remote start. Its not Australian though, its South African. Very good quality from what ive used.

in regards to two-three point immobilisation - it is just a matter of intercepting vital circuits with a relay to cut their function (ie starter, fuel pump, ignition circuit etc)

you can use a single immobiliser cut out point to run more than one relay (given the current of the relays combined doesn't exceed the maximu for the alarm output)

hence it is possible to use a two output point immobiliser to cut out say four points

so u reckon that 2 point immobs only uses single output?

what u think about 3 point immobs then? u think they only use a single output point too?

Tony - which remote start systems have 1st gear lockouts? What is that anyway? Will this prevent the car from being put into 1st gear when the car is off (hence preventing disaster when u try to look cool to the chicks and start the car and the car starts getting jiggy wit it)?

I've been told that the 3rd immobiliser, used to cut out the fuel pump has caused problems in the past when cars break down which is why most manufacturers don't make them any more. Not sure exactly what the problem is. I only got the 3rd one for insurance reasons.

I assume most remote start systems have the option of the gear lockout. The viper does but it doesn't fit in the Skyline. All it does is stops the remote start from working if it is in gear.

i think the alarm systems with more than one cut out point have separate output wires from the control unit.

this way if one relay gets traced and shorted the other would still need to be located. usually though i think you would have the relays near the control unit and if they find that you're stuffed anyway

Think about it people, how many of you have turbo timers? And if you don't then im sure you sit and let it idle to cool down for a few mins depending on how hard you've been driving it right? Then why exactly would it be in gear when you go to use your remote starter? Personally i don't have a starter, and really dont have any need for one.

    • Got my R34 gearbox around 4-5 weeks ago. Came into some extra $$ recently and after I cleaned the mess off the notes, I thought, might as well buy that R34 box I've been pondering.  In that time I've pulled the engine out, replaced rod and mains bearings, done a few other engine things that are much easier with the engina out eg PRP oil pump upgrade, replacing wastegate coolant lines, installing Turbosmartass turbo oil pressure reg, made some mounting brackets for some of my mods that are "hard to reach", converted the R34 box to R33, put the engine and new gearbox back in the car. Plus cleaning ...Oh my god so much cleaning when doing such a project. Yep I'm a busy bee, buzz buzz. As part of the gearbox project, researched posts and found this thread (In which i nailed it for the OP), hence the post here # logical thinking.. Not all about you old boy, SOrrryyy. Dare I ask,  how's yours going ,> Or you got it done yet, and if so why didn't you post any of the tips I posted to help other members? ???
    • Seems to be the case mate , still an OK price for a grey import.
    • I’m interested in the carbon diffuser fins and Toshiba MFD screen replacement if they’re still available.
    • @GTSBoy yeah i know it was not the "great" idea but it is and option...but i think i will stay on no BoV rather then trying to make it work with "half" this and that. But that GReddy FV2 is cool...i like that you can make it like stock if you want (and have/make the custom pipes) For other thanks! it was alot of information. But for the sound...a dont rly "like" both of them...specialy if they are loud...but if i "must" choose i would rather have little whooosh rather than sutututu with no BoV....BUT that is what is i gonna get. So for the all info i gather. In my case:  No BoV is not that bad cuz it is stock...and iam used to put N/clutch right after rpms are around 1000 so it should be ok...just need to avoid "big" drops. But i do not have the engine in the car so i do not really know how "bad" or good it is. But as i had that little test drive it looked ok. The atmo BoV should be worse car would dump to much fuel specialy between the shifts...so without proper tune/ECU i dont want that. BUT with that...car should drive ok with no problems right? (i do like there is less piping wih this solution) 🙂
    • Usually an RB20 won't stay in closed loop idle anyway. The O2 sensor gets too cold, stops swinging.
