let everyone know when and where the vids go up. cant wait for the next one, it was great to actually drive my car like it wants to be driven. slipping and sliding is great fun. i hit some cones too and they do no damage to even my flimsy fibreglass bar, so all the day cost is petrol, the fee and a bit of rubber :P

so there is no excuse for not going to the next one lol see you all there.

im hoping someone has a video of my first (and THE first) run of the day as i was all messed up on the skidpan but it was so much fun

I had a great time too.. I havent ever done any skid pan stuff - only track days where the aim is the keep it under control (ie. STRICTLY NO DRIFTING)! The skid pan was heaps of fun, although I found it too tempting to throw the car in for a drift instead of trying to get the best time possible - especially towards the end of the day. Im not sure how suited the timing system is to a wet skidpan style platform, in saying that though the idea of the day was to drive fast yet maintain control so I guess it makes sense... More self control needed next time!

I have some videos taken on video camera too. im just waiting to get a video capture card off a mate so that I can get the videos onto the PC.. YouTube might be a good place to put the videos - Hosting is free and the site is fast.

I've got videos of you Jeff doing both clover runs. Not any of the other runs you did though unfortunately. I've got a video or two of most other people as well so i'll post them up as soon as i've ripped it off the camera

lol i sucked at the clover though.. didnt like having someone in my car or at least wished he would stop talking. i dont know i know he wants to help but that doesnt really help. the best way to learn something like that is to do it wrong, then think about what happened and try again, not have someone treat you like a robot when half the stuff he is saying is what made you suck the first time..

ie: "the water is the braking point" = facing where i started. if he wants to give me advice he should drive my car first, instead of assuming its the same as everyoine else. mine is one of the cars that spins out heading into a roundabout at 10km/h. he also kept saying floor it but that again is the same thing, too much power so it just spins them up instead and i slide.

definitely liked doing everything but had more fun on the slalom side, that was fun. fast cornering and then some tight slides to come back... awesome

Jon,

very nice work :)

Yeah, true - sure it was for maximum control - quicker times etc but I couldnt help myself,

I was controlling my car in a powerslide way.... :P sure wasnt the style of driving for a quick time, but I had more fun  hahaha

I want to go sliding around again!

I had an absolute awesome time out there, and later in the week I'll be able to do the uploading of the photos that I have here that my mate took.

Have photos of everyones cars, in basically everyone single run, with only 1 blurry one!

Photos are HUGE too if people want them once they're up, let me know and I'll send large ones out.

And I'd just like to thank the whole crew that organised the day, it was an absolute great time, and I actually learnt HEAPS when I was out there.

I'll be in for the next one... Will definitely be coming up with a touch more rubber this time too...

Although grabbing the handbrake, plus first, at the same time, then ending it with dumping the clutch at full throttle to pull off a u-turn was hella fun! And knocked 1 second off my abysmally slow time... LOL

Bos was great when I went out with him, showed me where I was going wrong.

I'll be in for the next one, just one suggestion, can someone order the sun to be around 26 degrees not 36 degrees PLEASE!

i think we should have smaller groups, i know it will have to cost more, but smaller groups gives u more driving time. maybe they could incorporate some drifting training as well. not just about fastest one around. i ended up being boring and just trying to get the right lines. but at least i got one go of just stuffin around, spun it twice with my foot planted in second gear.....there was heaps of smoke...

I too did that, went on a 3rd untimed run at the cloverleaf, was pulling off some nice drifts until i hit the water then around i went with my foot welded in second....Smoke anyone? :P

Was a great day!

Dunno bout you guys but I have shreded the edges of all four tires!

Time to sell the XR6 ute and buy an EVO for a 2nd car I think!! GTR just cant cut the mustard on the tighter stuff.

Heres a couple of videos to get started... Im in the process of ripping and uploading them so bear with me... it might take me a couple of weeks to finish them all...

I'll upload just a couple now and people can have a looksie...

Mianly found the dori dori photos and shrunk em a touch.. LOL

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
