Are there any beautiful spots in Brisbane where people can hang out or stroll around in the evening? My girlfriend and I are normally only free after the sun goes down, but there doesn't really seem to be many places we can go.

Are there any other attractive places other than the ones listed below:

1) Mt. Cootha

2) City Botanic Gardens

3) Mt. Gravatt

4) Roma Street Parklands

5) Natural Bridge

Preferably scenic spots, as we're kind of bored of clubbing already.. :(

foreshores at redcliffe. same at wynnum.all lit and nice summer evenings with the sea breeze. plenty of restos and takeaways around as well. By mt gravatt did you mean the lookout. nice spot.

Havnt been to southbank for a long time but it had a nice walkway along the riverbank back then.

where is this lookout in Mt Gravatt guys? Anywhere near Garden City Shops?

Personally wouldn't go up to Mt Gravatt look out after the sun goes down. Ppl have been beaten up and robbed up there and its notorious for hoons going for mountain runs *opps* said the R word... :(

I agree with southbank too; it's really beautiful!

I had no idea Mt Gravatt is that dangerous though. Will avoid that next time ^_^

I haven't been to redcliffe nor wynnum though. Is it safe at night?

I would consider redcliffe safe at night. I've never had any problems here

my mate lives at wynnum and apparently the islander presence there is a bit erhm heavy, At night its not to safe to go out by urself, Depends where in wynnum though some parts are the ghetto.

im from logan, we invented ghetto..so i dont have much to fear :(

wynnum's a nice place

Mt Gravatt is good when its overcast. City lights reflecting off the clouds, with the breeze... Even better as it starts getting into winter!

I agree! But i find mt. cootha better, as there's a restaurant there.

kangaroo point either on the top of the cliff or down the bottom to watch the rock climbers  right on the river and the lights on the rocks are amazing. Always heaps of familys, runners, climbers around so is safe

go through the gap and head up to mt glorious. Some great views up that way and alot less people then cootha or mt gravatt

Hmmm redcliffe at night...

although it is a very nice beach and close to north bris...I wouldnt recommend after sundown

After my 2 experiences you would agree:

* 1st incident, I was on my way to mates bday...see bloke run across the road comin out of a deli/fish n chip shop with the chinese owner runnin after him with a hockey stick...had to give full report and screwed my night as I was at the coppers place for a few hours

*2nd incident, week later crashed into a big black dog, in my 3 week old skyline, as the owners were havin a punch up on the sidewalk...with a bottle of jonny...cops came for jus over 5 mins

so yeh I would not recommend redcliff after hours...its a nice place on a hot summer day, but at night it somethin else, specially the cops and how well they serve the community...suburb does not feel safe after 10ish

Jus my seggestion tho

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
