genkin
Im curious as to what S1 parts will fit on the S2 and vice versa? In particular, will a S2 front bumper fit on an S1? how about the grille? GoldZilla
The best person to ask about this is Alex, as he's done the conversion from s1 to s2 front. AlexCim
Obviously if you are looking part for part, nothing fits. You have to do a whole front conversion. The guards, bonnet, front bar, grille, headlights are all different. However, they all bolt on to an S1 chassis. The only things that don't bolt on are the inner guards, as clearly the front bars are different/have different attachment points. To fit the headlights also, the attachment points are different so you need to drill two new holes, weld the nuts on under the radiator support, then they just bolt on. One final thing to note, the headlight plugs are also different, so you need to cut/solder the S2 plugs on the S1 wires but it all works the same from the stork. Other parts wise, most suspension stuff is the same, interior will all bolt in, doors/rear panels are the same. The rear lights have different plugs though, like the front. The engine stuff wont ALL bolt in as its R33 S2 motor vs NEO motor. Overall, its the same chassis with a different front/interior quality/motor. genkin
Cheers for all the help guys. Reason I was wondering is that there is a WGNC34 Dolphin front bar for sale on eBay. Looks to be S2 by the indicator lights. Just wanting to know if it would be a straight replacement (other than the lights) for a S1 bar. Doesnt look like we are that lucky. Raysboostin
i figure posting here is better than starting another front panel thread. im buying another s2 with front damage (as soon as the flood water pisses off!!), and im thinking of a ser1 front conversion. are the radiator support panels the same between a s1 and s2??? cos im thinking of just getting a nose cut and fixing it up. They are basically the same. Maybe just a headlight mounting hole different. If you stay series 2, I have a pair of front guards if needed. Why go series 1, looks or price? If you stay series 2, I have a pair of front guards if needed. Why go series 1, looks or price? for tuffness imo. but i doubt it will fit well without fabrication or swapping of the reo bar. lights are an issue with wiring. cutting, welding and brackets will be needed. i remember years back a forum member changed a series 1 to a series 2 front end and it cost a fkn mint. nowadays not so much if sourced locally (even nz). hit up the fs section or get ready to pay $$$ ex japan from auctions. imo even a GTT (alternative to GTR) front can look ok with the right front bar. darrin or tangents should know. 66yostagea
And there are a lot of differences in the looms in the tailgates, between 1 and 2 and with and without door closer. The 25G, RWD, has different plug ins for the tail lights. Still have not got the electric closer working yet. After the rain it is No 1 on my list. darrinspencer
Is that nose cut you gave S1 or S2? The one I gave you is a series 2 cut.
