IIRC the XR6T has a 14.1 sec stock quarter mile time and the R33 has a 14.4.

But then you have to realize that your comparing an 18k car to a 35k car. Likewise the XR6T is newer, and should have alot better tech crammed into it and less K's on the clock. 4L vs 2.5L. Large curb weight vs medium curb weight. 4 door vs 2 door. Auto vs manual.

At the end of the day, its still a Ford and thats why it loses.

(at least in my opinion)

zoom did a tech article on the xr6t. they took the centre muffler out and gained 17kw, and it was still well under the legal sound rating.

stock for stock i'd say the xr6t would beat a gts-t or gtt skyline. and if you start modding them to a point where you start changing ecu's then the xr6t will hose a gts-t/gtt. just by remapping the stock xr6t ecu they can gain up to 100hp (remember that these cars were detuned to have less power than the v8's. there were a few cars recalled because they had a 300kw tune in the ecu - which is what ford was orginally going to run them at). there is one in town tat has just had exhaust, flash tune and boosted up to about 11psi and it put down 390hp (290kw). there are also guys with reasonably stock typhoons getting high 11's. they just do airbox and exhaust mods.

my sister-in-law's boyfriend has a xr6t. i was sitting at the end of the street in the rain 1 day and he came off the roundabout and up the hill. he didn't floor it but gave it a little bit of gas and the traction control kicked in for a second. that sounds cool. its like having a rev limiter kick in when the exhaust note is at its deepest. was the best sounding limiter type noise i have heard, cause it wasn't screaming, it was nice and throaty.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
