Hello Perthies!

I just signed up .. so please be kind to me!

We are just in the process of importing a Stagea from Japan ( having a few issues with compliance ) but other than that I just wanted to see how the WA section is going!

I currently drive a Turbo n14 ( trying to sell it before the stagea arrives ) and am the Social Events Co-ordinator for the

Perth chapter of the Pulsar Group of Australia ( http://forum.pulsar.org.au )

How many stageas are there in WA ( roughly ) and do you guys meet up much and go for cruises?

Sorry to be a n00b but it always takes a bit of time to get to know a forum and its regulars

heres to a hopefully warm welcome!

Sean

Hi Sean, Welcome to the forums :(

There are quite alot of Stagea's in Perth now, and they do occasionally have cruise. But your more than welcome to join any of the Skyline cruises too, we don't discriminate.

Heaps of info on Stagea's can be found here :(http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...hp?showforum=82

Cheers

Paul

thanks for the warm welcome Paul !

yeah had a good read of that link earlier.. steep learning curve for me in the future going from the sr20DET to the RB25DET

but I am sure I will learn thru trial and error ( and helpful people on the forums )

The car might as well be on the moon with all the time its going to take to get here. but hopefully we will land it at a good price.

Photos can be viewed here ( www.j-spec.com.au/clients/9211 )so fingers crossed we will get the car in good nick and for a good price etc. And looking forward to meeting a few of the SAUWA boys and gals.

Sean, No worries mate. Feel free to ask questions, once you've tried searching to make sure it hasn't been asked a thousand times already

We have Supa Golf on next weekend if your interested. Just check the Events section :(

Car looks very nice :(

Cheers

Paul

well .. are are hoping to get it landed and complied for $15000 , but its looking closer to 16000 at this time.

Oh and whats a FAST check - sorry for the ignorance !

haa.. soccer mums in the stagea section hey?

well to be honest thats sorta the logic behind getting the stagea.. getting to that time of life that kids might have to happen !

and I have always enjoyed driving something unique ( admittedly a boosted pulsar isnt exactly unique.. but I definately cant sneak around in it without being spotted. )

ooh .. we will feel special if the colour isnt that common in Perth !

hmmm supa golf could be go-er! last corporate day we had I won " longest drive " - so look out!

thanks for making me feel welcome guys .. really appreciated.

I am definately a person to get involved in the club ( when we finally get the car)

Hi Sean welcome to the club :P

there are a few of us in the stagea section so make sure you come say hi :D

nice looking stag you have there...from who i know there is already 3 white stageas in Perth so yours will be 4 that i will know of :(

we will be having another stagea cruise in the not to distant future when is yours likely to arrive????

good luck with it all and if there is any questions you need answers to head over to stagea discussion and im sure everyone will try to help ya out

enjoy ;)

a stagea cruise would be excellent to attend!

well it was GOING to arrive on the 12th of next month

but since its such a ball-ache to get a stagea complied in perth the car has to go to Brisbane

and that adds another 2-3 weeks on .. so thats a bit of a PITA!

the other alternative is to get it complied here in Perth for a whopping $4400 .. so if we go the brisbane route then

its an extra $900 or so in our pockets.

hahaha yep dont do what i did and get it complied in Perth, what a farking waste of money, time and not to mention the time it took them *end rant mode * :P

yep id agree much better for you to get it complied in brissie, we have two stageas in our driveway and hubby got his done in brissie was much cheaper, faster and less worries being done over there :D

the cruise wont be for a couple of months yet so hopefully we will time it right and yours will be here to join in :(

nope mine is a teal green japspec.. tried to keep a " sleeper " look to it so all and sundry does not want a drag at the lights

had a guy hanging out of the window of a van last night trying to spot my intercooler ! sshhneeaky!

this is the baby here

dont worry its not a rampant shameless plug just the easiest way of showing it to you all >_<

I am definately keen to participate in a cruise for sure.. hopefully the stagea will be here by the time the cruise eventuates

Interesting to hear wildcats comments on complying cars in WA. Its such a shame cause I have lived O/S for a long time and coming

to perth is one of the best places I have been , and I would like to give my $$$ to a local business not to a business in QLD.

oh and I probably *should* be asian ( eat rice almost every single day) but I am a philipino/sri lankan irishman haa.

so that will give you guys something to ponder before you meet us in person !

welcome sean

is urs a white n14 pulsar? ive seen a white n14 turbo on pulsar.org once when i was trolling through

we currently have it Tee'd up in a place in Brisbane and I am 99% sure we have exhausted our leads here in WA.

so I think we got it all ok - the place in bris is doing it for around $3000 ( better than 4400 ) but means we have an extra wait >_<

if you could find us a place in perth for $3000 I will mail ya over a carton !

Hey Sean,

I have a couple of mates that do compliance work for a living I can get a quote if your interested. $4400 is just crazy.

PM me if interested.

Hey Welcome to the forums and the world of STAGEA

Nice car, looks like a Pearl white..

There are a couple of us Stagea owners that go along on the SKYLINE cruises, and stick out like dogs balls  so the more STAGEA's the better

    • I had 3 counts over the last couple of weeks once where i got stranded at a jdm paint yard booking in some work. 2nd time was moving the car into the drive way for the inspection and the 3rd was during the inspection for the co2 leak test. Fix: 1st, car off for a hour and half disconnected battery 10mins 4th try car started 2nd, 5th try started 3rd, countless time starting disconnected battery dude was under the hood listening to the starting sequence fuel pump ect.
    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
