I found that riding the brake pedal actually gets these idiots to back off as they think you are braking... they are sooooo focused on how close they can get to make you move (even though its a moving parking lot and everyone is travelling at the same speed) that they aren't focusing on the road... they see the brakes come on and they back off.... This is the most effective way I have found... when I originally posted "brake test" it was a poor choice of words.. prolly should of been "warning lights" or something!

I don't condone stepping on the brakes and scaring the crap out of em... and yes I do know this would cause an accident hence why I have never done it nor ever will. It just amazes me the number of people that only drive as far as the car in front and not as far as they can see.... this to me indicates poor driver training at some stage

I don't tailgate others and nor do I expected to be tailgated - especially when I am keeping up with the flow of traffic and not holding anyone up ( which if I was I would surely change lanes)...... the amount of idiots sitting in the outside lane doing 90 is amazing... I just have a tanti in the car to myself and go around... it would actually be useful if they policed the law "keep left unless overtaking". They made this a points offence last year and I am yet to see it enforced.

Anyways... just spotted a new undercover car getting something installed (still has interim label)..... be back with the number plate for the Hornsby guys :)

ahhaha, rage up Anna!!

Best method EVER of getting a tail-gater to pi55 off, driving my Dad's mx6 coupe and some a-hole was tailgating me through Chatswood. My large mate in the passenger seat, opens the sunroof, steps out shoulders and all, and shouted a few words back at the guy while looking rather angry. The guys balls shrank so fast!!!, backed off and changed lanes LOL

But I have to say I prefer making them angrier by simply slowing down more rather than tap my brakes, some idiots just don't take a hint so I'd rather inconvenience them, if they think I'm going too slow, I'll go slower!!!

haha yeah, tail gating me gives me an excause to just sit on 40 for a good while... no matter how late I'm running!

a friend of mine was on his way to pick me up one night and and this guy up the road was tail gating him... so my mate tapped the brakes...... and he didn't back off, so my mate pulled over and let him go first.. then tail gated him.. lol.... anyway.. got to my place.. picked me up, started going up the street, and this guy was standing in the middle of the road with his sleeves rolled up... and tried to grab my mate out of the car as we drove past.

took some pretty nifty driving to dodge him!

Some commodore wanker the other night was sitting behind a truck in the left lane, comming out of the kingsx tunnel towards the home marker center.

i passed him and was comming up on the truck to do the same. and here comes hero commodore right up the left side, cuts infront of me with a few feet to spare between the truck and me. i beeped then he decided he didnt want to pass the truck and annoy me and sit beside the truck. so on when the high beams. and i kept my space to be sure it was going right in his eyes.

then three lanes open after the home maker place and i went left and seeyou bye! he tried to follow with his high beams but had no luck pissing me off the wing and cage block most of the light!

I was driving through redfern tonight on my way home from work, i dont like sititng at the lights there so as soon as it went green i gave it a boot around the corner. I hear a screech of wheels behind me and a dark plain commodore is right up my arse. At first i thought "cops - im done" but i looked back and it appeared to have 5 people in the car.

At the next lights he revved the engine a bit, i took off very slowly and indicated to turn right at the next lights, so did he so I took it off and went straight and he did too so I was definately being followed. I took about 10 back street turns and thought it might have been guys trying to hijack the car or find out where I live to steal it later. I turned the other way and drove away from my house and eventually the guy gave up and turned around.

I called the cop shop when I got home and said i wasnt sure if i was being followed by crims or if it was the cops checking me out. I told him what car I had and he said that they were waiting for me to be naughty.

I am glad it was the cops and not someone trying to steal the car - but I wish they put their lights on instead of following me through all of these back streets - i was so close to running to lose them.

:(

Thats gotta suck! How many people would of "run" because they were being followed, unsure by whom and what the outcome was going to be? Especially with all the carjackings of late!

Wonder what would happen if you did speed away and were booked.... surely there has to be some leeway when the police are literally scaring people into speeding by playing stupid cloak and dagger games trying to raise revenue.............. although take it to court and I'd bet you'd lose :(

i'm the same as everyone else. as soon as i see a commodore or falcon i'm on the anchors hard even if i'm under the speed limit. the cops are doing everything these days to trick people. they're not just sticking to commodores and falcons anymore. in my time here in the hills area (which is about 9 months) i've seen heaps of unmarked cars. SS, SS made out to look like a standard 's' pack commodore, clubsport XR6T, XR8, GT, GT-P, mitsubishi magna VR-X, mitsubishi 380, WRX, liberty, forester GT. I've also heard rumours off a mate in bathurst (who's dad is a sargeant down there) that the cops are looking at having more japanese unmarked cars (i.e supra's, and yes our beloved skylines). give it a few months and you wont just be slowing down for every commodore and falcon. It'll be everything. And they'll find a way to have them quicker than anything we can produce. And once they have they're paws on the japanese market of cars, it'll be a sad day for tuners and car enthusiasts alike.

Peace out.

Have Fun. Stay legal.

I am wondering is the problem of pursuit and traffic safety justified with all these top end model cars they are purchasing.

Why cant these cops have modern base model cars specificly modified for their needs instead of rubbing it in the working persons face that his tax dollars payed for that while hes fining you.

I would love one of those current affairs programs to look in to this.

we should do something about it. we should report it to a current affair or today tonight complaining that the police shouldn't have $70K vehicles as unmarked police cars

unmarked doens't have to be expensive, if someone is speeding you don't need a 70k car to detect it. it could even be possibly argued that by driving around flash cars they are encouraging fast motor vehicles and the people that use them...

I can handle unmarked cars and the police driving anything they can get their hands on with taxpayers money... its the antics that Trooper posted about that should be illegal. Any bogan can rev at me at a set of lights or what not... it aint going to make me floor it off the lights to prove I am faster..... but when they start following and changing direction to follow through streets and being suss i.e not able to tell if its a cop or someone out to carjack... thats when it borders on "harassment to entice speeding" as such.....

btw ... if they start driving high performance jap imports... wonder if their modifications will meet EPA requirements and be engineered ???????

well to be honest with u i think some of the cars they've already got a illegally modified. I don't know if anyone has been to the Super Cheap Auto at Auburn? I used to be the assistant manager there and the cement blocks that are at the end of each car spot are the height that a standard car should be at so they shouldn't scrape or should just barely touch it. We had a cop come in one day in an undercover xr8, cracked his front bar becase he hit the block...bit sus...

its BS ... imagine the repairs for things like that xr8 bar x 1000 because theses cars are thrashed , day in day out ...

Repairer :"Sorry police department we have to order you in those special Xr6 bits and they cost a bit more etc etc .....

Police dept : "pfft just wak it on the account mate ....We will make up the difference out on the road ! "

I got pulled over by a red marked SS next to my work for a RBT.

But also have seen...

*Lime Green Unmarkd & Marked XR8

*Dark Blue SS Unmarked & Marked

*Marked Red SS

*Unmarked White Tarago

*Blue Print Blue XR8 & XR6(T?) Marked & Unmarked

*Black SS Marked

Thats about it, oh and the usuals, unmarked silver & white SS & XR's.

I can tell you that it is the only time i have ever WANTED to see flashing lights and hear a siren behind me...All they had to do was a little chirp of the siren... I was thinking "either way I can lose my car here" Choice of being impounded and losing license or possibly having the car stolen if I "ran"...at least if its stolen I get a bit of insurance money.

The more someone wants to race me, the slower I drive - sometimes I rev them up a bit and then wait at the lights and let them go.

It seriously looked like 4 or 5 people in the car - how many cop cars have 4 people in them (unless they have already caught someone).

I was followed in my Stagea by an XR Falcon today East-bound on the M4 from between Cumberland Highway up until the toll-gates. I sat on an indicated 90 all the way, and seeing as my speedo is optimistic, I knew I was pretty safe.

I was sitting on around 95-100 a bit before I noticed him, and saw him flash his headlights behind me, which is what made me assume that it was a cop. I'm not sure if they were flashing at me or someone else, but I asked my passenger to check for the hidden lights, and he said that he could see them.

It's strange that even though I was passed by a newish Honda Accord which was doing at least 100km/h, that he still chose to follow me...

This cop either knew his cars or knew that my car is somewhat unusual, because apart from the loud exhaust, my car looks (and is) standard.

    • This is where I share pain with you, @Duncan. The move to change so many cooling system pieces to plastic is a killer! Plastic end tanks and a few plastic hose flanges on my car's fail after so little time.  Curious about the need for a bigger rad, is that just for long sessions in the summer or because the car generally needs more cooling?
    • So, that is it! It is a pretty expensive process with the ATF costing 50-100 per 5 litres, and a mechanic will probably charge plenty because they don't want to do it. Still, considering how dirty my fluid was at 120,000klm I think it would be worth doing more like every 80,000 to keep the trans happy, they are very expensive to replace. The job is not that hard if you have the specialist tools so you can save a bit of money and do it yourself!
    • OK, onto filling. So I don't really have any pics, but will describe the process as best I can. The USDM workshop manual also covers it from TM-285 onwards. First, make sure the drain plug (17mm) is snug. Not too tight yet because it is coming off again. Note it does have a copper washer that you could replace or anneal (heat up with a blow torch) to seal nicely. Remove the fill plug, which has an inhex (I think it was 6mm but didn't check). Then, screw in the fill fitting, making sure it has a suitable o-ring (mine came without but I think it is meant to be supplied). It is important that you only screw it in hand tight. I didn't get a good pic of it, but the fill plug leads to a tube about 70mm long inside the transmission. This sets the factory level for fluid in the trans (above the join line for the pan!) and will take about 3l to fill. You then need to connect your fluid pump to the fitting via a hose, and pump in whatever amount of fluid you removed (maybe 3 litres, in my case 7 litres). If you put in more than 3l, it will spill out when you remove the fitting, so do quickly and with a drain pan underneath. Once you have pumped in the required amount of clean ATF, you start the engine and run it for 3 minutes to let the fluid circulate. Don't run it longer and if possible check the fluid temp is under 40oC (Ecutek shows Auto Trans Fluid temp now, or you could use an infrared temp gun on the bottom of the pan). The manual stresses the bit about fluid temperature because it expands when hot an might result in an underfil. So from here, the factory manual says to do the "spill and fill" again, and I did. That is, put an oil pan under the drain plug and undo it with a 17mm spanner, then watch your expensive fluid fall back out again, you should get about 3 litres.  Then, put the drain plug back in, pump 3 litres back in through the fill plug with the fitting and pump, disconnect the fill fitting and replace the fill plug, start the car and run for another 3 minutes (making sure the temp is still under 40oC). The manual then asks for a 3rd "spill and fill" just like above. I also did that and so had put 13l in by now.  This time they want you to keep the engine running and run the transmission through R and D (I hope the wheels are still off the ground!) for a while, and allow the trans temp to get to 40oC, then engine off. Finally, back under the car and undo the fill plug to let the overfill drain out; it will stop running when fluid is at the top of the levelling tube. According to the factory, that is job done! Post that, I reconnected the fill fitting and pumped in an extra 0.5l. AMS says 1.5l overfill is safe, but I started with less to see how it goes, I will add another 1.0 litres later if I'm still not happy with the hot shifts.
    • OK, so regardless of whether you did Step 1 - Spill Step 2 - Trans pan removal Step 3 - TCM removal we are on to the clean and refill. First, have a good look at the oil pan. While you might see dirty oil and some carbony build up (I did), what you don't want to see is any metal particles on the magnets, or sparkles in the oil (thankfully not). Give it all a good clean, particularly the magnets, and put the new gasket on if you have one (or, just cross your fingers) Replacement of the Valve body (if you removed it) is the "reverse of assembly". Thread the electrical socket back up through the trans case, hold the valve body up and put in the bolts you removed, with the correct lengths in the correct locations Torque for the bolts in 8Nm only so I hope you have that torque wrench handy (it feels really loose). Plug the output speed sensor back in and clip the wiring into the 2 clips, replace the spring clip on the TCM socket and plug it back into the car loom. For the pan, the workshop manual states the following order: Again, the torque is 8Nm only.
    • One other thing to mention from my car before we reassemble and refill. Per that earlier diagram,   There should be 2x B length (40mm) and 6x C length (54mm). So I had incorrectly removed one extra bolt, which I assume was 40mm, but even so I have 4x B and 5x C.  Either, the factory made an assembly error (very unlikely), or someone had been in there before me. I vote for the latter because the TCM part number doesn't match my build date, I suspect the TCM was changed under warranty. This indeed led to much unbolting, rebolting, checking, measuring and swearing under the car.... In the end I left out 1x B bolt and put in a 54mm M6 bolt I already had to make sure it was all correct
