Get a bike man... that ticks all your boxes

Its fast, cheap, $20 petrol a week (if that), running costs are a fraction of a car and you can park the damn thing anywhere. Not to mention a lot of chicks get a tiny little wet when they hear the word 'motorbike'. Your need for a $8000 weapon of a ride problems are solved

Don't forget though if all you have is 8k, I wouldn't be looking to spend all of my money on the car itself.

Keep in mind you have to pay other extras such as insurance rego etc.

Good luck with your search

we ill trow in my two cents.

if you still wont a skyline why not look at a r31 gts-x its a 2 door coupe with rb20det and manual. they average areound the 8k mark and are userly in resenerble condition (plus they raced at bathurest). look on the for sale cars section in r31skylineclub to see if thats what you wont.

it would be my pic if i wonted a 2dr or i would get another 4 door r31 for 2k and spend 6k on it. as you can userly get one that is man and with a turbo for apx3-4k.

R31Nismoid -

i've seen decent r32's go for that much, r33's even.

most if not all r32s you see for sale are overpriced but you do get 1 every now and then thats well priced. i wouldn't be wasting my time looking around for such cars if i knew i couldn't get one with that budget....

its low i know but i'm sure something will turn up for the right price, thing is i'm in a hurry.

thanks.

i will never ever pay 12k for an r32.

not a fan of those lol. try n keep it japanese ;)

If you want a turbo/manual R32, and you want to spend $8,000 then you are making a mistake. I am sure you might be able to find such a car but it will be a POS and even if you spend a few grand fixing it its still not as good as most others!

I can't stand ppl that say what car they want, then say that like all of them are "over priced" and that they will never pay that kind of money. You need to consider that maybe you are wrong and the market is right. The market is subject to all the regular factors of any goods market. Some people are prepared to pay $12,000 for a good r32.

If you are not then get something else but I know that any $8k turbo manual sports car is going to be very old and/or a POS... endless headaches.... but that is your mistake to make!

S13 silvia or 180. average condition for 8k. 8k for R32 won't be very good unless you're really lucky. My tip is go aussie. Get a really nice XR6 or XR8 or SS of the same age.

What sort of car would you prefer. Good car in crap condition or reasonable car in good condition. Unless I was gunna thrash and trash it, I'd go the reasonable car in good nick.

Look at laurels and cefiros if there are any round. They can go for pretty cheap too.

I sold a really good nick R31 GTS-X coupe about 18 months ago for $9300. That was a good price back then and a great car. In some ways I wish I still had it. They are probably the best way into the RB engine range. Very rare too!

wont = want

userly = usually

resernerble = reasonable

well sorry to break it to u bud...but if u think u can get a clean example of an r32gts-t for 8k, u are dreaming...

i think the problem here is...........u dont have enuf money atm, u need to keep saving...

R32's are cheaper than ever atm, in general they are by no means overpriced.

same goes for people thinking they'll get a decent 33 for $12k....Just because you saw some for that price...doesn't mean thats what decent ones are worth.

Yeah true, People like that I always want them to buy a real cheap example so they can find out just how wrong they were. They end up costimg themselves more than they could have ever imagined..... serves them right!

Ye, i can only imagine the condition the 13k R33 was... it was probably a half cut

bikes are out of teh question.

and NO i'm not saying r32's are overpriced just because they're too expensive for me.

like i said i've seen and know of decent examples of r32s and r33s that have gone for that much.

My thoughts and few examples:

thanks mate will ring up about this rs.

your looking for a cheap turbo car... and your worried about petrol.... ? sounds to me like you should be looking at something a little more economical

i've owned turbo 4's and have an idea of what kind of petrol turbo 6's drink. nowhere near as bad as rotors....

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
