i have been pushing the r32 abit harder lately to see its limits and i have noticed my front wheels lock up alot earlier then i'd like when entering corners.

would this be a braking issue or a cheap rubber issue..? i am using cheap nankangs. got standard gtst brakes with slotted rotors and green stuff pads...

where do i start??

Are you hard on the brakes and starting to turn?

I find nearly any car does this.

And you also said it. You have cheap nankangs.

Replace the rubber, you'll have heaps more grip. But you HAVE to back the break pedal off as you start to turn in.

not braking when turning in but when im trying to wash off bulk speed just before corner.

i have tested at different application pressure and it feels as tho it should pull up a bit harder before it locks up.

i'll go with the rubber..

I didn't know you guys were driving R33s...? :nyaanyaa:

On topic, replacing the Nangkangs is the first step. Secondly, what suspension are you running? If you're running the stock suspension, given the age of your R32 its possible that your suspension's on its way out. Dead shocks and soggy springs will unduely shift the weight up front under brakes, overloading your front tyres.

What you're describing is technique improvement opportunity :P

Try lifting off, downshift rev match prior to corner, use brake earlier, or any and all of those combinations and try braking at a different time in relation to where you're pointing the car. Also be more precise with the brakes so you don't lock up the front wheels.

If you already know that and are pushing your car 9/10's on a track then fair enough get better tyres and suspension to stop dive and help pull the car up :(

brakes stop the wheels, tyres stop the car

also, once you have had one decent lockup you will flat spot the tyre slightly. even if you don't feel it as vibration when driving the tyre will still tend to lock up at that same point in future.

technique is also worth a mention, don't just thump on the brakes and expect to pull up. peak braking is achieved by squeezing the pedal, so the initial bite causes weight transfer forwards and you can then get on the brakes harder without them locking up. I have really cheap nexen tyres and I am impressed how well they pull up when braking properly.

    • That still isn't a lot to go on. I don't have a Y50 Fuga Head Unit wiring diagram. I can say that a lot of nissans of that age shared head unit plugs, so if you are in Australia something like this would probably help: https://aerpro.com/app091# You plug that into the car loom, then either plug the head unit ISO into that (if it has ISO), or you buy and ISO adapter harness that you wire in. Bit of stuffing around, but once you have ISO its easy to change things in future.
    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
