Just for the guys asking about the Fuel Pump

If you want around the 200rwkw then you need a new pump, the stock will reach its limit about 170 - 180rwkw.

then you can wid the boost up a little more aswell cause fuel supply won't be an issue.

I think thats what happened to me, cause i had my boost set at 12psi but it was knocking so they had to drop it to 9-10. Do you think by getting a new fuel pump, putting the boost back up to 12 and getting it dyno'd again will get me to 200?

stab in the dark but it could be your spark plug gaps for 10psi plus boost they should be gapped at 0.7 - 0.8mm gap

Yeah i guess if you got that power on stock fuel pump then itshouldnt matter, but mine could be stuffed. Wouldnt hurt changing it anyway its not that expensive compared to buying a new ecu.

r33madd i gapped my spark plugs to .8 when i changed them after i got the car. Would changing them to .7 help?

my car made 200.2kw without an safc and my afr at 10.5:1 top end, on 12psi dropping back to around 10psi top end also. What do you guys think I could gain with a safc??? and say tuned at around 12:1 afr??

I have a 96 r33 s2 with 3" turbo back zorst, fmic 600*300*76mm, high flow fuel pump and stock turbo with steel front wheel? ( series 2 should have plastic one.)

Cheers

Russ

Roughly what kind of time is required on the dyno to get one of these doovas working properly. I have read about 1.5 to 2 hours yeah?

yea mine took 1.5 hours but it can also depend on your car and the tuner

so do you reckon that i should be investing in a upgraded fuel pump before i get a dyno tune with my safc?

will there be much of a gain if any?

running 12psi boost, hks pod, fmic, full exhaust including dump and afc neo?

should i go for a pump and wat power should i be expecting?? around 180 hey?

anything else that i could upgrade easily to get me more power?

HI,

Guys if your fuel pump is causing you issues, some may be faulty change it. If not leave it.

What I am saying is save your money(or if you can afford it buy it). On the other hand I didnt have money to throw around and went to the dyno with a 'it will make as much power as it wants to attitude'..

stock fuel pump I made 234.5rwkw..and so many others also...this proves that the stock pump is capable? Unless there were different model gtst r33 pumps, which I doubt.

I dont want to mislead anybody, just trying to shed some light..

Fuel is important in the long run, as if there isnt any well you engine will cease to work.

Cheers

well its obvious a fuel pump and reg increases power but that auto Steg with 160 at the wheels is pretty impressive

plenty of auto stageas in australia with >200 awkw. Same upgrade potential as skylines but you lose an extra 10-20kw through the drivetrain due to the extra weight. They're about 250-300kg heavier than a skyline :P AWD helps to overcome the weight a little bit - especially when you increase the kw.

You can gain an extra ~20kw by removing the front drive shaft, making it RWD, but the reality is that people have done this and found that the car is actually faster in AWD (almost a 1sec difference in 1/4 mile times). Factory RWD-only stageas are a LOT lighter (front diff and ATTESA setup adds about ~200kg!!) however so these would have performance very similar to an equivalent RWD skyline. :(

yeh i am going to go on the dyno and get my afc neo tuned and see how the stock fuel pump handles it, hopefully everything goes all good, if not well i will have to upgrade it.

i will have, afc neo, fill 3" exhaust with dump pipe, air pod, fmic, bc runs 12psi.

what kind of figures do you think i will be expecting? hopeing for 180 or something higher or there abouts.

should be up on the dyno within the next month or so

Paulr33...

time will only tell if it is a timb bomb tune..Can you explain to me why it is a timb bomb?

I know many people change the pumps because of the info they get on these type of topics and some times they would probaly definately not need it. It has been a few weeks of testing the car and it is holding up fine for now. It seems to be suppyling fuel fantasticly as the AFR's when dynoed were fine?

Can someone please post up if they have had there stock pump run of efficency at higher power levels. All the time I hear people claiming that there faulty not that they cannot supply the fuel at certain power levels. My pump is old now at 12years of age, I think this is the cause sometimes. Some last longer then others or quality may vary. There are alot of variables.

Paulr33 I will update you in a couple of months to see if the pump is holding up..

Cheers

before I went onto the dyno I ran NULON INJECTOR CLEANER through the car also as i use to drive around on the bottom of the tank alot which sifts all the gunk from the bottom of the tank into the injectors and is known to clog them up..It may of cleaned the fuel pump also as you put it straight into the tank.

Cliffgtst Use some injector cleaner before hand and maybe run some ethonal fuel before hand as this is also known to clean some gunk laying around in the fuel systems and engine..

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
