Its That Time Of The Year Again, I'm Excited :)! - Work Warning

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Yes, its snow season again woot, i'm thinking of flying to NZ for a snowboard trip as i'm afraid that there isn't much snow for us this year again. We stayed just under the mountain last year at FallsCreek and still, there wasn't much snow either. Not that i'm that hardcore or anything but still i'd like to ride on real snow so even when i fall, it doesn't hurt so bad :).

I want to hear from those who had been to NZ for ski/snow before, who has got the best deal, where is the mad place to stay with girls party hard running up and down the hall way with just bikini on........ :), yes you heard right, girls running up and down drunk in bikini but not Mr Brisby (Last year @ winton, though he wasn't in bikini :P) !

Also i'm thinking upgrading my gears, i'll be in LA and most likely NY as well mid June early July, is it really worth buying gears from the states? I know they have mad clothes sales over there everytime seasons change but i don't know about these kind of things therefore i really need some advices from the PROs here. My mates has been getting some cheap gears off EBAY from the states as well but i dont' really like the idea of Ebay and specially i'm flying over there soon so i might as well.

Anyway, some teaser pics

Haven't actually gone myself but I've heard that you can get some pretty good deals to NZ and its sometimes cheaper and better to go with one of their flight/cabin/lift pass deals they got.

we had free accom in NZ one year, I borrowed some clothes and board and it ended up costing me $600 for a whole week, airfare included! definately the best option over the snow fields here... lots of people from many different countries there as well, which means plenty of drunk back packers;)

We stayed in Wanaka which is about an hour from Queenstown... Wanaka is like a surf town in size and feel whilst Queenstown is much bigger, lots of shops, everything you could ever need/want in one place... much more relaxed feel in NZ as well, they don't have the liability insurance problems that we do, so you can do some crazy stuff...

I stay with my bro in zew zealand every snow season tis mad 300 bucks get you a pass to all the mountains.. as far as gear goes the new burton clothin range comin out looks good, ya cant go past the new k2 free style board and ride bindings and boots.

As far as gear from overseas goes the new ranges are released during snow season whatever time it is in that part of the world so even if u buy over here your only 6 months behind the yanks. The latest gear in the US isnt much cheaper but you can find a number of big brands over there that Australia still doesnt stock.

if u can mate save your money and go to japan at the end of the year, money better spent, for the approximate amount of money ur gonna spend in NZ save a few extra k's can get u to japan on a package deal. Girls arent that hot their but the boarding kicks ass...cant compare to NZ.

definately buy ur stuff in the states, itll be off season...or buy gear on ebay from the states, ive bought alot of analog gear including last seasons T6 off ebay for great prices shipped to my door...better prices then the 30% discount i can get at trigger on clothing in aus.

Japan?

Its an ultimate dream mate but $600 trip and 2K+ trips is a major different :D!

Hi West, don't mean to rain on your parade but I've had complaints about the pics posted - I've edited the title of the thread to list "WORK WARNING" :(

Cheers.

ROFL!!! I miss all the good stuff not getting on at work! West putting pics of himself up in a Bikini, enough to have the site shut down :laughing-smiley-014:

We are going to Hotham and Dinner Plain this year as I want to learn to board and have an offer. We have accomodation up there already so it makes sense to give it a try. I normally go up and take pics/sit at the bar while the others ski but this year is the year. I have done dry slope skiing many years ago in the UK but never snow (even though I have seen enough of it for a lifetime!)

:P

Hummer ski trip FTW!

Snowy - we'll talk.

BTW - I still have roof racks to fit an R33 coupe if anyone needs them. Good for boards or skis.

(An R33 Westy, they are just for an R33) :)

Snowboard and winton trip. i'm so in! :)

Last year I did a snowboarding/moto riding week and then Drift for dummies on the way back at DECA. I had a blast even though the snow was crap.

Regarless Jamez :), i no longer own any R anymore but name your price and i'll come around pick it up off you this weekend SIR :) as i'm getting another R next year anyway woot! You've got too many cars to be taken care of, let me look after the roof rack for you. Seriously, i'm coming up weekend to grab it off ya, just pm me how $$$$$ you want :) !

    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
    • When I said "wiring diagram", I meant the car's wiring diagram. You need to understand how and when 12V appears on certain wires/terminals, when 0V is allowed to appear on certain wires/terminals (which is the difference between supply side switching, and earth side switching), for the way that the car is supposed to work without the immobiliser. Then you start looking for those voltages in the appropriate places at the appropriate times (ie, relay terminals, ECU terminals, fuel pump terminals, at different ignition switch positions, and at times such as "immediately after switching to ON" and "say, 5-10s after switching to ON". You will find that you are not getting what you need when and where you need it, and because you understand what you need and when, from working through the wiring diagram, you can then likely work out why you're not getting it. And that will lead you to the mess that has been made of the associated wires around the immobiliser. But seriously, there is no way that we will be able to find or lead you to the fault from here. You will have to do it at the car, because it will be something f**ked up, and there are a near infinite number of ways for it to be f**ked up. The wiring diagram will give you wire colours and pin numbers and so you can do continuity testing and voltage/time probing and start to work out what is right and what is wrong. I can only close my eyes and imagine a rat's nest of wiring under the dash. You can actually see and touch it.
