ANyone know how to get the sunroof off an R33? i've got some rust i want to cut out of the sunroof and just want to repaint the whole steel frame of the sunroof.

Cheers

you literally have to rip everything out. basically start at the bottom of the car and work your way up.

gota take the pillar trimmings off, the handle things on the ceiling, the lights in the middle and at the front, the rear view mirror, some other bits and pieces and then the roof lining, and then you get to the sunroof.

there might be an easier way but thats how i did it

Hahahaha.. sorry.. now that i've finished laughin.. just did this about 3 months ago..

1.. As above, strip everything out, 1st the handles above the windows, lights, rear vision mirror, both the sun blinds, than take the seat belts off.. Roof lining at the front isn't attached, at the back it has 4 metal clips that hold it in, if you pull down on the back of it where the rear window is it will pop out, just don't be too foreful..

To get this out, the passenger seats RECLINE all the way back, slide it forward than lean it back..

To get the sunroof out, pull the drainage tubes off, than make your way around the front undoing the brackets that hold it in..

Also - to get the roof lining out + sunroof out - you NEED 2 PEOPLE!!.. don't try this by your self, also put a towel over the dash.. it's not overly heavy just awkward.. any questions, let me know.. I've got a nissan servicing manual around here - but doesn't tell you how to get it out, just replace it....

Make sure you check everything is right before you put it back together as it takes some time..

Don't go to nissan, it's hard, but not that bad..

Just take your time, took me about an hour to pull everything abart before taking it out.. Another 30 mins or so to undo everything than get someone to help you..

A workshop will charge you about 4 hours or more of labour I reckon.. Give yourself a weekend and you'll have it out.. If you have any questions we're happy to help

I'm not sure about the R32, sorry for the delayed post, only just saw this..

I had to replace the cable and foot that it's attached to as it snapped when closing it one day, my seals are fine.. If you have to replace the seals I would look at getting a 2nd hand glass from somewhere..

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
