hey

i bought a gts4 motor to put into my r33 gtst i still wanna run rwd

i was unawear that it was a s2 or at least it is a lil diffrent to my engine and mine in a s1

i was under the impression i could remove the sump and trasfer case and put the standard sump on but the bolts a alot bigger on the sump and wont do up

- would i be able to fill the holes and re tap them to teh sizes needed

-also being a s2 motor (thats if it is a s2 motor) can i remove all wiring and coils and put my wiring and coils in and still run normal

the fly wheel is alot thiner than mine

im doin this as i have taken the motor out of my car and putting a standard one in but couldnt find one at the time for a good price

can anyone help me please

atm i have stripped it back to nothing only internals head is on and im about to change sumps any help would be great

mm... your wording there isnt too good

Is the GTS-t sump bolt holes bigger or smaller than the GTS-4 sump?

Either way, you either mod the GTS-4 sump and lop off the diff (no great drama for a half decent fabricator)

Or just mod the GTS-t sump to suit the holes.

I wouldnt be playing around with the block, i'd be playing with the sump

the gts4 sump holes are bigger than the gtst ones

would the volume of oil in a sump of a gts4 be any diffrent to a gtst sump ??

cause i was just goin to do wat you said chop off the side and fab it up

Isn't the gts4 r33 an non-turbo motor? ie higher compression and a few other changes standard?

at first i thought it might have being but the seller assured me it was a turbo

when i got it i checked for turbo oil and water lines and they were all there so im guessing it is

can someone correct me if im wrong please

can someone check the engine number for me ??

So drill the GTS-t ones out, and fit it.... Or is that not an option?

I havent seen the two side by side so dont know if its an option

It would be the cheapest if it is though.

If not, just lop it off as i would imagine it to be the same/similar to a GTR one.

Im running a modded (diff removed) GTR sump on my RB26/RWD and capacity is little to no different im told and its going to be predominately circuit driven

hi,

when we swap 4wd engines into rwd cars here -- we just cut-off front diff part from 4wd sump. already done this three times -- no problem.

enr33 never was a turbo, maybe your engine is from first generation wgnc34 stagea?

to swap s2 engine to s1 car you have to change ignitor (there is no one @s1), coils, maf, tps. If you are really unlucky and you have latest s2 with hitachi CAS (black plastic case) -- then you have to change CAS and exhaust camshaft.

to quote your link.

"Next was the RB25DE, a 2.5l engine with 190hp at 6400rpm, powering the GTS25 and GTS4." note gts25, not gts25t.

Doesn't change anything for you, just look in the stagea part of the forum for more specific information on the motor that you have and what you have to change for fitment..

Personally for the sump I'd be doing what r31nismoid and stronzo suggested.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
