hey guys i dont want to seem like im jumping on your thread and selling my parts,

but we already have airbox's made up for the skylines, in fibreglass and carbon fibre.

we also are about to finish of a new design of airboxs that use the standard snokel.

also, for those members who want to design there own in fibreglass, but are having trouble with where to get the materials dont be affraid to ask me, i can supply you with everythying you need or i can send you to supplier's close to you or in your state.

if you guys have any questions at all or are having trouble and need to know where you are going wrong, just let me know.

Here is a couple of pics of the fully enclosed prototype that I am making. This version is for the R33 without a front mount intercooler only. My pod filter is an M's pod which is one of the biggest on the mmrket so the box should fit pretty mucvh any pod filter.

I have not made the lid for it yet but you can see that with a lid, it will be fully enclosed and even uses the factory screws to mount it - (one at the top of the box, and one down the bottom (which you can't see in the photo).

Nice bit of fiberglassing Dude !

I got pics of mine as well now fitted up so you guys can get an idear but dont know how to post em up ! Send me an e-mail to [email protected] and I'll forward them to you.

Be warned though they are high resolution shots and 5 of em total about 12 MB so make sure youve got plenty of space !

Looks the goods Alan :P

If you are after some airbox lid fasteners than try Dzus ones from Sportsbike in Victoria, these are used on most motorcycle fibreglass and Carbon race fairings, easy to use and pop riveted on (the base that is)

heres a link. http://www.sportsbike.com.au/accessories_dzus_fasteners.html

OK - I've now finished the lid for the box. The design is complete but there is lots of sanding and final prep work for painting to do, plus cut hole for CAI and glass in a bracket for the boost controller solenoid.

Complete with lid

Complete with lid (front view) - Yes the bonnet does close with approx 15-20mm clearance

I hope this gives you guys/gals some ideas if you want to go the DIY way. This has taken me a long time so far however - I reckon about 20+ hours. For those not prepared to make one themselves, I intend of having this design for sale in about 3-4 months.

THIS IS THE R33 VERSION.

AVAILIABLE IN CARBON FIBRE AND FIBREGLASS.

Got a pic and price for r32 GTR one? Any pics also, as i'm interested to see how it bolts in and how it accomodates for the pods and and factory CAI.

Cheers

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
