What a great start to a Sunday morning.

Well, less than 5mins from my house, I was sitting at a set of traffic lights waiting patiently for them to turn green.... BANG..

wtf.

(photo taken a few km's up the road..)

CRW_6871.jpg

How does one rear end someone on a quiet road, when there's no traffic around? HOW THE HELL DOES SUCH A THING HAPPEN!#%!!

From what I can tell the damage is as follows:

- both rear light brackets broken

- rear bar bent.. duh

- rear bar impact protection whatsit bent... duh

- bootlid bent down

and for the thing that really shits me

- drivers rear quater bent and folded slightly

I've notified my insurance company, do I ring the police too?

What the hell guys, seriously, just what the hell... *sigh*

Yeah, we swapped details, I've even got a photo of his car... doesn't seem to be much damage at all on his. *sigh*

Well, he can't not accept responsibility.

T intersection... red light.

I was sitting there waiting at the red light, with one car infront of me.

*BANG*

I might let the police know just so there's a report of some sort.

I just feel so sick to the stomach when I think of how long the car will be waiting at the panel beaters for...

why cant he take responsibility? he rear ended you while you were stopped....

There's no doubt about who's at fault. I don't think that will be an issue.

I wonder if the rear quater will be able to be fixed, or if it'll need replacement. There's a couple of noticeable folds under the petrol flap, and the bit near the tail-light is all flattened.

Police told me I didnt need a report too when some idiot hit me for a minor acco.

Report it anyway over the phone and insist on a police report number. Call police assistance line 131444.

Insurance will sort it out but just in case the guy tries to avoid you at least its all reported

The only reason the cops will take a report is if one or more of the cars had to be towed away.

In this case they didnt, so they didnt.

If the police did not attend the scene you will have to rely on the other driver taking responsibility.

Make a report of what happened. It will more than likely be required if the other driver tries to worm his way out of it.

Thanks man. Called and got the number. The only details that they said they could take down though were time, date, and location.

Hey bud glad you are OK.

I feel sorry for you but atleast the car can be fixed and by the pics dont look that bad.

With the police thing I would of gotten the Police officers name that you spoke too but it is no hassel because basically it comes down to your story and the other drivers. You have the damage on the rear end not him.

You will more then likely need to go too three different panel beaters to see who is the lowest then Shannons will say which one and in it goes.

Again so sorry and just glad you are ok

hopefully things will be ok man....insurance should be able to take care of it - but you can suggest which panel beater to take the car to etc.

had somethign like this happen to me last year - luckily i wasnt driving the skyline....the guy was tailgating for a while, then at a left turn - i was waiting for the cars on my right to go through, and was inching forward. Then *crunch* - the f**king idiot rear ends my 82 civic. I pull over, he drives off. No damage, call the cops they said they cant do anything and that ideally the other driver should have stopped. he was an old man, but still didnt have the decency to pull over....maybe i scared him off cos I was wearing my beanie and my hoodie and gave him a glare....

    • I get you, we’ll see I’m aiming for 200ish kw now and hopefully 300rwkw down the line after some upgrades maybe like headstuds, E85 flex fuel etc  so trying to make it final for that now, I can get a GTT airbox for $280 so it’s not too bad but not sure if there’s better ways to spend that money. I seen online they say pod filter which isn’t enclosed isn’t good especially for a plus T.      hard to say what to do
    • Meh. How much power can you make from a +T anyway? I wouldn't have though it would be enough to challenge the airbox. It's not as if it's tiny compared with the turbo one. As to putting a pod in a stock airbox .... it's not the filter element that would be restrictive. It would be the air inlet to the box that would be the narrow point, which you could open up regardless of what element was inside. On my R32 I opened up the sort of triangular opening in the bottom front corner of the box, deformed (heated, moulded) some 4" stormwater pipe to fit to that opening and punched a 4" hole down through the inner guard to the spot where the stock intercooler used to be. This was purely in the search for a cold intake, but you could do something similar if you need to open up the inlet side of it. The AFM tube size is the same for both NA and turbo, so the outlet from the airbox is same same anyway. If you're going to do the right thing, then an aftermarket ECU won't care about the AFM (ie, you can get rid of it). But even if it was still there, people pull >300rwkW through them all day, and I suspect you won't be going there.
    • R34 RB25de Neo by the way ^
    • Doing a +T on my car and I’ve read the precious forums lots of mixed reviews from sometime back.  checking if anyone has any ideas for airbox or enclosed pod filter or solutions?  I was thinking stock GTT box but some say it’s restrictive? I seen some people try fit in a pod in the box anyone done that recently?  not any good enclosed options ? Thanks
