What an awsome effort guys!

No problems, no idiots, nobody go booted..

Burnt some rubber.. burnt some fuel.. burnt some snags.. AND for once, didn't burn my skin!

I would like to point out that I will now be calling 'GAZZA' the bandicoot! Those who were there will know why!

speaking of the badicoot, how many black love skisses have you got on your spoiler from hitting those hats man?

they do scrub off!

RevHead and I are already looking for dates. We will try and sort that out AFTER I move.

Jyo is leaving, and will be very much missed! But I'm VERY glad he made it!

Most of the skylines couldn't keep up with Warrens Stagea! Go the yellow volvo taxi! LOL

Karen's times were a lot quicker than some of the boys.. U go girl.

RevHead won the 'shoot out' and the time trial.. well, If you take my time out of it! lol

Anna did well.. after she got moving! that GTR was hard on her. But she handled it quite well.

Now, If you guys think about what you were taught.. It will make you so much better for the next skid day.

Nearly all of the guys that came to the first SAU skid day were alot better this skid day. Remember to practice, the smoother your inputs, the smoother the car.

Cheers

Anna wasn't in a GTR! Just kinda looks like one, it is just a lowly GTST!

I had heaps of fun and despite the ice tyres did the same time in the second time trial as I did at the last day in a far grippier car so I must have leaned something! Thanks for organising these days they are great and couldn't recommend them more to people

Ditto - a damn fantastic day. Full results and photos are on the club site atm, I haven't gotten around to posting it up on here yet but SAU will be sharing in the love!

It was good to see the general improvement in driving since last time - obviously some of what was said had sunk in, people had learned something and were putting it into practice. And we managed to skid heaps, and I somehow managed to beat Aaron, twice  (flame on lol)

And yes, the ice tyres were hell funny. I think if you park on enough of a slope, the back end will start sliding down the hill... you guys did a damn good job of just keeping it facing the right way, top work

Why don't i get a mention for winning timetrial 2???? not fairrrrrr~~~ LoL...just kidding manz~ It was an awesome day as usual~~It's not enuff! It prolly will never be~hahaha~ And yeah fer me personally, things had gotten much clearer and better after the previous skidpan. Kept trying to keep all the advice from mark, aaron and wazzie in my head and thru to my legs and arms as i was sliding ard~ Wazzie was fast thru the timetrials as usual~ give me a few more slidewize sessions and i'll be sure to give him a run fer his money! Revhead was really quick thru timetrial1 and especially the shootout! Awesome stuff marc~ Well i feel very comfortable when i go to roadcraft gympie with slidewize right from my first time there. Aaron, Mark, Wazzie, Bruce, Leigh and everyone there made me feel very comfortable and trust me the slidewize skidpan at roadcraft gympie is like no other, it's fun, it's educational. Mark amazes me everytime i see him out there~Gives everyone a lil to think about their driving after attending it, and helps us all improve our driving skills, right from the most fundamental basics of driving. Seriously if i wasn't going off, I would be at every slidewize session, help out, do some sliding etc. I hope to be back in brissy sometime soon. It's been awesome there fer me, ive learnt more about driving, control, sliding, made some nice friends, and have lotsa lotsa fun! I recommend everyone to go to a slidewize skidpan day if you haven't been before. :bunny:

Awe.. thats nice Jyo. But like I said, u can skid my car when u visit!

Marc(RevHead), Bring it on buddy! I'm gonna mash ya! ohh, who actually did the fastest recorded time? was it me? LOL

Anna, thats twice I screwed up info about you! lol. sorry! But you did very well.. even Mark thought so!

Bandicoot should pitch in for some new cones!

Sorry about the carwash.. I have found a new crew to do that job for you! Ones that don't double book!

Has anybody noticed that this is NOT a horsepower game.. cars with soft tyres and suspension are doing VERY well.

It does not matter how much HP you have.. if you are not smooth, you are slow!

And yes, I think Mark is something different! He is a VERY good freind of mine and Wozza's (before we started skid days) and he still tells me I'm driving wrong and not being smooth enough.. he even double checks the intersections as i drive though them. He is that accute to his job. I personally don't think I could find a better teacher or freind. The odd thing about that is, he treats everybody the same. Revhead gets the same treatment as I do. Actually, I think the girls get the better end of the stick!! but meh..

I am looking at september/ early oct. I have to check with Roadcraft bookings, mark and wozza. but in there somewhere if we can.

I had an absolute BLAST again and I can't wait for the next :D Hopefully minus the "iceguard's" haha I got the shits with them and didn't do my 3rd run on the first time trial, and did none of the 2nd trial, I didn't really see the point, so can't wait for next time ;)

Thanks guys for organising everything again, and for the fab instruction, as always hi5 :sorcerer:

It was a good day, the shootout was mega close and there was a heap of friendly competition in the time trials too. And bah @ not in garage, 41.53 is faster than 41.63... :D

In :(

If you don't park your car in the garage, ur car gets storm damage! Mark said that is worth at least 1 second..

Drive to far into your garage, you get a busted bonnet! After all, we are aiming for precision.

man that was a great day! You are all welcome to come 'visit' our loacl skid day if you wish!

ohh, if you are wanting to book a spot for the Sat Oct 13 skid day (local day), email Grant at [email protected]

I will be offline for the next 4 weeks. Wozza is away for the next 10 days, so don't bother emaling him either!

So, the big Q, what shal we learn next? hmm.. I have a great idea i will run past the other guys..

I'm sure it will be fresh and informative.

Hey Anna, nice avatar! If we had an award for slippery wheels... you would have cleaned up big time!

I was very surprised those tyres were not megga grippy.

For the readers that were not there.. Jyo donated his prize to the SAU group.

I personally thought that was a very nice touch. It just goes to show the quality of the crew that went!

Yeah I was ignoring that bit...

Indeed :D

Will be looking out for the next one. Was great to get to know the car, coming from a Diesel Discovery to R33 is a bit of a step and apart from a couple of overpower spins I think I'm getting the hang of the car. Stock isn't bad, don't think I'll change anything for a while yet (not that I can afford it ).

Might have to shop around for some new tyres and rims to keep spare, even with the water I was still getting a bit of burnt tyre smell (oh, and creek water EVERYWHERE, I found the stuff just about every place around the engine bay and panels, smelt for the next couple of days until I could pressure blast the engine bay :O)

And yes, I was deliberately sliding it around during the time trials, except for the first time up around the top (so greasy) but kept going pretty hard :D. Had a great time and the perfect place to learn the limits of the car (safe, no gutters, etc).

Thanks to everyone that put the event together.

Well, as of now, I am offline for the next 4 weeks until I get a decent hookup to my new house  . So I will not be here... I will see if I can plug in at somebodies house, but we'll see.

Warren is still away, but when he returns, we will sit down and nut out a date. I will talk with Revhead as soon as we have some dates. I will do this as quick as I can so you guys have heaps of notice.

I'm glad to here that some of you actually learnt something. Now that you have, USE IT!

We are going to need 16 cars next time, so convice your mates that they NEED to do this! If your having heaps of fun, then I'm quite sure that they will. Really, whats not to like? heaps of skids, free BBQ, heaps of tuition, good solid technical stuff to learn and apply and heaps of (silly) skyline drivers to give each other some encouragment.

As far as Warren and I are concerned, the SAU guys are the best behaved, least messy and most improved bunch we have had!

So, lets keep raising the bar...

Bye for awhile.. :P

I enjoyed the day immensely once again. Just didn't want to scratch the week old paint, but did anyway.....

The trip home was interesting as I over-heated and was worried I had done something terminal, but it has turned out to be the radiator cap and now she is running fine again.

Cannot wait for the next one also. Need to get more 'lines involved as we need to show the general population that we are able to handle the added responsibility of owning these wonderful cars.

I stole a puta! :D

Well, now that some of you are getting what I'm on about.. Lets get to and drag our freinds there! I'm not after crowds, just some more cars!

Very sorry to hear about the paint. how hard did u hit that hat?? I have not seen busted paint before.

:) for now

A great day was had !! even from the 'bandicoot' here :)

my motto is if you can't be the fastest .. at least entertain the troops

hang on .. when I do manage to post a time without crashing I am the fastest :)

I guess next time I'm there I might concentrate on NOT crashing.. but if this comes at the cost of slower times, then I'm going to drive like the 'bandicoot' you all know me as !!

plenty of love taps on the car to be sorted out .. including a little scratched paint on the drivers door from one of those big azz cones, but looks like it'll buff out :D

Cya next time

I stole my mates puta again..

About time you added a coment Bandicoot! You are very much entertaining..

I giggled like a little school girl every time you went out!

You are correct, to finish 1st, first you must finish. Remember: Speed is fine, but accuratacy is final.

You were fast when you didn't 'crash', but if we all drove like that, we would all be alot faster.

Its the art of being smooth and fast that makes consistancy. Thats what will ALWAYS make a winner.

A winner on the road because you wont die, a winniner on the track because you will always be out there..

But, I'm very glad you had heaps of fun, cos that is by far the biggest thing we aim for! At least when you crashed it was with style and grace... aarghh ha ha-ah hahaha haha! Your a classic man! :laughing-smiley-014:

Hell yes, could not agree more! Knowing it and being able to practice it are two different things though, in the heat of the moment it's easy to forget! I'm constantly in awe not just of Mark's ability to control a car and get it around a course quickly, but also at how easy he makes it look. You see him driving and it's like he's in a big upright armchair, he's hardly doing anything in comparison to us, and he laps quicker than anyone else. I suppose that's the difference between a group of people who are able to wrestle a car around, and someone who is able to make the car do all the work...
  • 2 weeks later...

Just a quick update...... wasn't the radiator cap that broke on the trip back...... was the head gasket..... Being fixed right now and should be ready for our next trip to Gympie!

Paint is Ok too, just a witches hat kiss.

  • 2 weeks later...

yea those hats have been known to leave little dark smudges that take a bit to rub out. but they do normally come out! My wife reckons to try eucalyptus oil.. I havn't hit many cones.. so I cant give it a try and tell ya how well it works...!

Next SAU skid day will be next year...

3intheback and I are considering the dates for next year. But u are all welcome to come for a gawk on oct 13!

At this stage, I personally am thinking 6 days in total. 3 for SAU, 3 for the locals..

cheers

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
