be thankful you got offered to do this test man.. i got caught hooning and you think im doing this? the only thing im offered is a big license suspension and thats it..

if you dont want to do the murcotts course.. come down to a calder drift practise night and give it your all.. im sure you will learn how to control a car in situations...

Hey Guys i did my defencive driven course, It was ok its all about breaking and driven safely and when u slam on your break's u got to try and not lock them up and still be able to turn.

What else did you do/learn, give us some more details.

Lady at work, her son has to do one as he fell asleep at the wheel of a car and crashed. She has been trying to find one that is recognised by the courts and I believe is sending him to Sandown.

Personally have never done one but my test was hard enough plus learning to drive in snow, black ice and freezing fog taught me a hell of a lot coupled with a 1.1litre car for 2 years.

Great that you have completed it but see if you can apply it to your daily driving and as MissJuz says, come along to a track day and have some high speed fun with us where you can really see what your car can do. :worship:

Ok this is what happend on the day. At the start u have to rate your self on skills, confidence, complie with road laws, collision and incident rate and frequency of skidding. they are out of 1 to 9. then in a group you talk about it.

Then they tell u about tyre pressure what is safe and u can take it up to 40psi and it will help your breaking. We watch a movie on tyres and how the right pressure is more safe by turning and breaking.

Then we went out on the track and we had to go about 65kms and we had to try and stop in 20metres with out skidding, that was fun You see how the ABS car pull up to a car with out. Then we went back inside and watch a movie on how ABS cars pull up and how car with out pull up. and if u wipe of 5kms you pull up faster. They tell you how a car with out ABS can pull up just as fast as a car with ABS u just have to learn how much you can press down on the break and you just got to make sure it doesnt skid.

Then they talk about vision on the road and what you should do when your driven, look what's happening up ahead not just the car in front and try and read the cars on the road.

Then you go back outside and weave though cones about 45kms, then we went back to breaking and this time we had to break and swerve though some cones with out hittin them and you have to do it with out lockin your weels up.

afther that went back inside and they talk to as about some road rules and how some roads are unsafe and vicroads need to do some thing about it and how australia need to have the same road rules all over not diffent ones in each state. Thats about it then it the end of the day.

It's called the Diversion Program, our Defensive courses are recognised by the courts, and we give discounts to SAU forumers.....

errr having to do one of these courses to get off your P's?

I did one with my work a while ago, didn't really learn anything that i didn't gather from common sense myself.. Making it mandatory to get off your P's will just hurt peoples pockets.. Unless there really crap/stupid drivers i guess..

    • Hey keep the ideas coming, I'm always keen on projects! But, problem fixed!  I got a cheapie ozito scope from Bunnings and had a good look in and around the bearing and sensor hole. I couldn't see a smoking gun but the bearing looked a bit strange, especially when comparing with a new one. I thought the cover had come off the bearing magnets.  Sorry for pics of a screen, I didn't have an SD card.     Good thing I had the old one to inspect. So, given I'm like a pit crew with wheel bearings and luckily I had a spare bearing because I f**ked up my parts order, I decided to just smash it out. Got the old one out in about an hour. So much easier when the parts haven't had a chance to rust together yet. 😂 And, well, found the problem.    In the second pic at about the 8 o'clock position, you'll see what I think is the tip of the old sensor.  The new sensor has definitely been rubbing but it's all intact, just a little shiny so I'm hoping it's fine.  The car brakes perfectly now and no errors.  I think the job took about 2.5h in the end. 👍🏻 I really appreciate the help in here as usual. Thanks guys.
    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
