I agree with NI5MO. I have spent some time looking into the actual legislation with respect to this matter both the overarching Act and the relevant Regulations. The offences listed on boostcruising have been in place since 16 March. There is no mention what so ever of these ridiculous impounds.

The Government cannot bring in 12 month trials starting in different areas at different times. How is that to be imposed if you are merely driving through an area with these supposed laws in place and do not reside there. Do you get out of your car before you enter the shire and take all the mods off, drive through, and then put them all back on once you are through?

I think this is a matter of people either misinterpreting the law (which is likely) or they are having a laugh and trying to get a reaction out of people by posting this info.

I fail to see the validity of such laws and as all have said this will create a back log in the Courts and prosecutions. If you comply with the regulations as advised by Qld Transport you should be fine.

Of course I could be wrong but I would bet my skyline that I am not.

If the trials become permanent across the state I'll be transfering the rego over to NSW, everyone knows QLD is dodgy anyway

QLD cops don't have immediate access to the NSW database and cant check to see if it's been engineered, defected etc... :laughing-smiley-014:

no skin off my back.. just dont do stupid things attract attention and you wont get caught and defected...

No Im sorry this is a nieve way to think, if these new laws are true. No matter, WHAT your doing, Who you are, Or what time it is. This may and can happen to you. If they think your car is modded Because its a skyline the copper will pull you over, and use his Wise wisdom in their automotive skills, to tell you your stock exhaust is modified and defect you for it. then 2 years later when your driving your mums, car with led's lights on the squirters on the bonnet, they will take it.

Coppers already have too much power to abuse, will just get worse, especially Rookie Ramjet in a bad mood who dont like your attitude because you didnt say "yes sir" and polish his shoes. Joe Blow who works as apprentice will have to take the bus, and pay off the yard fees and towing costs the next 2 months. and you can say bye bye to your car, doesnt matter if its legit or not, your car, your mums car, if its missing the mod plate, and they feel that its illegal or modified in anyway, its gone.

Im sure we are all (I know I am) sick of this currupt government and its stupid laws, designed to extort money off working class citizens like ourselves, to give them a bigger revenue for their budget.

QLD is turning into a joke, i love cars, and frankly some stock components are crap, and less efficient that aftermarket products, which would help to provide better fuel econemy and make less polution. who ever thought this up was a greedy fat politician after our cars and money, when is enough is enough. what a stupid law to bring out. they are bloody criminals.

And we think this is a free country, give me a break. f**kin crooks. If these laws are true, Im seriously considering .. whats WA like this time of year?.

I got defected out at the spit on sunday. Got a $375 fine and 3 points for

Fiberglass bonnet

Vented catch can

Internal boost controler

Screamer pipe

Exhaust over 90db.

Glad the laws weren't in place yet.

No offense Steve, but if you took the time to research your mods, you would have a faster car, be legal and still have that $375.

Boost controller, easy to hide

Fiberglass bonnet, well the stock one works fine for most

Scremer pipe, now that is just stupid

Over 90db, well that also is a cheaper fix than $375...

hey One of my business partners is an Ex copper, he said that these new proposed laws are silly and himself and other officers will feel the same way, and they will treat them as they do other silly laws they do not agree with, and fail to enforce them after a certain period of time. Of course it depends on the officer him or her self, and if you piss them off or not haha.

that is in fact they even do get passed and become enforced at all, which is yet to be confirmed 100%

Just thought it was relivant. made me feel alot better

Everyone's still forgetting the police don't do anything under these new laws. It's up to a magistrate who, in most cases, is on much less of a powertrip than a cop and will listen to ALL the circumstances before handing out harsh action. When I have contested fines, I've usually won and thats because police do stupid things and hand out stupid fines. Magistrates aren't going to take away your car for having a transport approved exhaust (under 90db) or a new pod filter.

Steve: That sucks about getting fined, I met you a while ago (through linda) on the m1 when I had my white 33....good to see you still have the car, it's one of the nicer 33's out there.

Boost controller is just through the power fc. Fiberglass bonnet was on the car when i bought the car 5 years ago, probably should have researched that one. Screamer pipe i knew was a risk but sounds great. And i'd say most people on here have over 90db but thats no excuse. I should have researched my mods more thoroughly and will so in the future. But i still think the boost controller thing is stupid.

Atmo screamers and 90+ db exhausts ftw...I don't care what people say.....high hp cars sound tough, the less restrictions and the louder..the better.

I hate stupid laws....noise restrictions of 90db are rediculous when motorbikes don't adhere to such same restrictions...claiming noise pollution is a joke. As for environmental reasons, there's plenty more obvious ways to "save the world", plumbing a sceamer pipe back in isn't on Al Gores top ten. In car boost controller is even more rediculous, but hey it's the law so I suppose there's little you can do.

This isn't really relevant to this topic, just my random venting. Luckily I was never defected for this crap.

prasie that!!.. my stock parts died so, what else could i do, buy something that will last longer.. stupid holdens come out with a stupid amount of stock power.. why arent they pulled over more...

i was pulled over the other day and made to sit for 20 minutes near fitness first near christine ave gold coast.. they pulled over like 5 cars laughing there asses of having fun with there speed camera, i sat there and watched these idiots!!.. pull over cars for no reason.. one even said: he looks like he is doing 100, pull him over.. it was a 80 zone.. they look like they were having fun and making people wait there for along time for nothing.. do they not realise that we have work and other things to do in these short timed days!!... they act like the world stops around them.. cops are worse then the telstra customer service call centre!.. cant the cops speed up what they do, instead of fooling around, at least dont make us wait for 20 minutes while they have a chat in the car f*k!... i know all jobs people mess around and do silly stuff, but i guess being a cop there is no difference?, but in these cases they wreck peoples lifes!!..

Thats what you get for going to the spit on a sunday avo go to surfers and park up.

i stopped going cos cops are ALWAYS there and theres only

one way in and out!!!

its too easy to get caught, but if u go into surfers theres side streets everywhere!

if u see a defect bay u can turn before it, not drive past them holdin ur di*k between ur legs

with ur fingers crossed!

What happens if you are visiting QLD and your car is NSW registered?

Laugh :laughing-smiley-014:

The defect will only apply in qld and u can continue to drive in other states without getting it cleared, if your not driving the car regularly in that state ur laughing. Arrest warrants, defects, unpaid fines from other states wont show up in QLD.

QLD cops dont have access to the NSW database so they cant tell if the cars rego'd or who owns it, QLD cops have to check my NSW rego sticker everytime I get pulled over.

If you read the faq at this link to the new impound laws it pretty much says it doesnt matter where u are from. if the car is impounded you will have to make arrangements...

:) Defects for BOV's?

"........"if" you CAN'T mod plate it, and it is currently a defect (examples: ANY aftermarket exhaust, Neon Lights, Atmo BOV's, Screamer Pipes, LOWERED VEHICLES (under 100mm), Carbon Fibre Bonnet, Illegal Lights, Bald Tyres...............the list goes on)...............THESE offences will cause you to LOSE you car under these new laws.

"

What are the laws for exhaust besides DB and Cat.

or is it just, Aftermarket exhaust = defect.

Going to be interesting when Habib gets done while holidaying QLD.

The cops are sure guna have fun impounding it when Habib calls his cuzins by the duzins.

Broadwater capark will be fun, bring on the riots!

I think people are strongly over reacting towards this....just as everyone did when the "hoon legislation" came in...noone actually knows the difference years after those laws now. Police can fine you but a judge decides what happens. Look to transport regs and traffic act for what requires a mod plate and what is a defect. If you have never been defected for it before, nothings going to change...apart from the possible penalty if you continuously reoffend.

Side Note: I doubt the police would be frightened to enforce the law against "habib and his cuzins" lol.

What rock have u been living under? The Gold Coast is like living back in the 90's lol :laughing-smiley-014:

You havent heard or seen the countless incidents when cops do a routine check when pulling lebs over in syd?

this is just one example

    • I have been being VERY quiet about what you're alluding to, as it is something that ticks me off... The number of cars from factory that run coil overs is HUGE! Most of them these days do... The other part that annoys me, is people saying "Well all the incabin adjustable suspension is illegal by blah blah blah"... If that's the case, then why can I buy a car brand new that can do it if, FULL STOP in cabin adjustable suspension is illegal...   Also, I could just chuck some aftermarket shocks in my car, throw the stock springs on, after my blue slip, dump my super low springs back in. Same shock and spring style setup... Hell, they could also be the same colour springs etc.     I'm voting, BlueSlipper didn't want to touch the above car for some reason. Whether it be some sort of bias against the car, the owner, them maybe having previously done dodgy shit and now they're being super careful in case they get slapped in the face by the Gumbyment again... Find a new blueslip place.   And can confirm as you had said, yes there are holy bibles of vehicle heights, and all sorts of other suspension stuff. Heck your run of the mill mechanic, and tyre shop has access to all of that stuff. It's how they do wheel alignments...
    • Funny story Heading to Sydney this morning on the HWY there was some slow traffic, so I gave it the beans and midway through my overtaking "power run" I lost all power It seems that I missed a hose clamp,  and the MAF and filter went WiFi To make this more problematic, the little tool kit that lives in the boot, is sitting in the sun room at Goulburn......LOL Luckily for me I found a bit of steel on the side of the road that could be used like a rusty and bent flat head screw driver to tighten it up enough that it got me into Sydney, it is now all tight like a tiger with the aid of a 8mm socket Note to self: Use my brain and double check stuff, and always keep that little tool kit in the car for when I have a brain fart
    • Oh, and as for everyone with their fuel economy changes, I switch between E10 and 98 in the company car. Even do when I had personal cars that could run on E10. You know what changed my fuel economy in any noticeable way? How I drove, and where I drove. Otherwise, say on full tanks of just back and forth from work only (So same trips, same sort of traffic), couldn't notice a difference that I can correlate to the type of fuel in use. In the current vehicle, that's over 42L of USABLE fuel. While 98 is all "more energy dense", it also has higher knock resistance as it takes more energy to get it to ignite too. The longer hydrocarbons, typically more tightly bound. So running the same ignition map, can also produce less power, if there isn't enough time to get it all burnt through properly, as yep, the flame propagation speed is different from lower octane fuel to higher (Higher has a lower flame propagation, due to the more tightly bound and harder to self ignite funs. This is also typically where, a vehicle that is designed purely to run on 91 (Whether it be E10 or normal 91) usually sees absolutely no real world difference in fuel economy for the normal man, woman, or dog.
    • We've got some servos around me that have 91 with E10, 91 (no E10), 95, and 98. At those stations the change from 91 E10 to 91, is typically around 8c/L.   But lets not get started on the price of fuel in Oz. It's ridiculous. All the service stations around me, bar one, the price of fuel has been over the $2 mark per litre for the cheapest, 98 being around $2.45. That one service station is a CostCo, fuel from it comes from the same refineries, and makes no pitstops, it runs great, including the 98. In fact, I've had no issues on CostCo fuel, but plenty of issues at other stations!. The CostCo fuel, was $1.65 roughly this week for 94 with E10. $1.88 for 98. Servos directly across from it, $2.10 for 91 E10, and $2.48 for 98. The part I had to laugh at? If I drive multiple HOURS away from Brisbane, say out near Nanango, or Kingaroy, or even out to Goondiwindi, the price of their fuel, is the same as what it is at the CostCo... Oh, and that BP servo at Goondiwindi is HUGE and goes through epic turnover of fuel, so it's not sitting there for weeks going to shit. And what blows me away, my mate is one of the people who drives the Fuel Tanker all around QLD, delivering to all those places. At the same company his previous role was doing the "local haul" deliveries... Same truck, same driver, same pickup point it all comes from. So you tell me, how the hell it is 60c/L CHEAPER for fuel, when nearly all else is equal, except they require a B-Double to drive half a day out of Brisbane, and half a day back, every second day, compared to the delivery that can be under 30 minutes drive from the fuel pickup point... Not to mention, go five blocks down the road, and Ampol to Ampol will vary 30c/L... And I've had this conversation with my mate... The way it's priced, is just typical, pure and utter rubbish... He also does runs from Brisbane, to all over QLD, down to Newcastle, Sydney, Nowra, Melbourne, Geelong, and even out to parts of the NT depending on the companies needs. His main stuff is all the longer distance away from home for a few days at a time, then when he's back, he loves to just pickup extra shifts wherever he can in whichever truck, hence all the weird different places.   Oh, as for getting E10 into all the fuels in Australia... It was very quickly highlighted, that we don't have enough biomass available to use to make E10 sustainably like they require, and it would dramatically cut into our, and the worlds food chain supply...   I vote we all just start running on liquid methane gas... Plenty of that just getting tapped off at tips from underground decay... (Note, this is pure just stupid commenting. I could very easily highlight the reasons its not a good idea especially on scale...)
    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
