Fark.... that looks nice. Will be getting that or the Saber smoke one for $20 more. decisions decisions. Does the Apexi one come in PSI?

Hahah. Na dont think it comes in PSI.

This ones is a mechanical gauge, came with APEXi stand, almost brand new in perfect condition, I picked it up for $100!

Worth every cent :(

Thanks,

Abu

got my saber yesterday - loving the electrical style - no need to worry about crushing an air tube when going through the firewall :(

the 'smoke-ness' is not as great as i was expecting, but it still looks cool. if my gf doesn't have a whinge i'll install it tomorrow morning.

hooked up my saber on the weekend - piss easy to do (partly because I already fed my wires through the other week when i tried to hook up what i found out was a broken gauge...)

What i did have to do though was cut some pieces of the tubing supplied with the gauge and fit them over the stock air feed thingo on each side of the cut i made for my gauge's boost sensor, because my tee piece was too big to fit into it. I wanted to replace the whole tube with the stuff supplied with the guage, but the inside diameter was too big to fit tightly to the plenum :santa: ... that probably doesn't make a lot of sense, but i'll take some pics tomorrow.

anyhow, gauge is sweet, pretty much matches the stock one, but the extra increments make reading boost a lot more accurate! turns out i max out at about 5psi in 1st and 2nd then up to 8psi in 3rd 4th and 5th?? this is with a bleed type boost controller currently set just above it's minimum (still haven't got my intercooler yet and was waiting til i had a better boost gauge and fmic before i up it)

yep to me gauges are important. mainly because they need to be accurate, reliable and fast reacting but also they need to be aesthetically pleasing. My advice is save the extra money and buy nice gauges. Nothing make a car look worse than cheap gauges.

^^^ +1

Agree 100% - Accuracy, and they just happen to look shite hot  I'm Y generation and mech lines running into the cabin don't "impressin me much"

I've mentioned before, I have two mates with VDO gauges that have needed to be sent back due to massive inaccuracies. Their warranty support wasn't so crash hot either. I'm not going to bag them though, i guess statistically they both could have gotten two bad units, and they both could have spoken to a dude on his rag, and the courier could have lost the order

Edit: They were worth the months of saving and im completely biased

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
