Guys,

I have been pondering lately the idea of going to japan to stay for a week or two as there is a fare of 565 RETURN between june and august!!

Would anyone else be interested in this?

Obviously we would have to organise accomodation and stuff but i reckon now is the perfect oportunity to go while the prices are still very low.

only thing is that japanese winters a blistering cold

and japanese summers are annoyingly hot and humid

so the two times i CAN go the weather is harsh (although japan in winter would be absolutly beatiful to see)

Spring is the most desired time to go

So iv been told that is...

Personally, i dont think its really an issue, i just want to GO there!

its with singapore airlines... and the only times these fares apply are in july and august.

its looking very likely that i will be going... and the best thing is i can take 1 day off to go and get a bonus 10 days from work cause of the sars thing lol so i can stay about a week and a half for the cost of a day :O

im thinking of leaving sometime in august as that will give me a bit of time to save up a few grand to spend on gear while im there. Might bring back a few goodies for the car. Even look into how much it will cost to send a container home and if enough of us go we just split the cost of the container. but we might not have enough time to look for parts (unless troy wants to track them down for us starting now :))

Singapore Airlines for that kinda price? It's extremely cheap! I am interested, too. REALLY INTERESTED!

The only problem is, none of us speak Japanese, which could be a problem. And besides, the last time I went there, my transport and accomodation cost was like 7 times the airfare itself. It was a week trip in a motel with Japanese traditional paper divider in the room. And we took subways, shinkansens and buses wherever we go. Forget taxi, someone told me it cost like 250 Aussie dollars from the Airport to the Downtown!

250 AUD dollars from narita to the actual dowtown areas, id say that would be about right. thats about the cost for the shinkansens as well. the cheapest accomodation i was able to find was 10,000 yen a night.

to get from narita airport closer into the shopping district just jump on the "SKYLINER" which you get from the subway at the airport. it costs around well i forget soemthing like 30 dollars aud

well my accomodation might be ok cause i know a chick there named sayori who stayed at my aunties house as an exchange student... im pretty damn sure she wont mind me staying over.

her parents tried buying my aunty a car for looking after her lol she refused so the mother went out and brought a 5k ring for her as a "token" lol

but yes i spose the fact we dont speak a word of jap isnt going to make things easy... troy if u read this... wanna look after us while we're there? :O

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
