Well - actually - I have been to AUS well over 20 times and have another business in SYD - I have been a racing fan for many years and I love AUS - Port Douglas used to be my favorite haunt until investors set it - and no I do not know what you are refering to - but my website is dedicated to the upcoming stars over here - and Marcos is one hell of a great guy. You should all be proud!

Check up on you're mate now and then - he's giving it a great go

'Ambrose'

And yes we like him too... well now we do, when he was fighting with Murph up on the mountain he was being an arse... but i dont expect you'll know what im talking about, so carry on

Being an arse must = taking issue with Murph for being his typical F-wit self. :)

If your ingterested in a crew position with NASCAR = go to www.thehotlap.com and look at forum NEW BUSCH TEAM

Might be an opportunity for any of you in that position

To be honest I've been following Marcos Ambrose this season in NASCAR and surprisingly it has got me interested in NASCAR. Ambrose is currently 10th in the Busch series standings and 2nd rookie. He's had a couple of bad rounds the last few weeks but this week they race on the F1 circuit in Montreal and next week is Watkins Glen... a couple of road courses should be good for him.

Seriously as a fan of all motorsports I never thought I could ever like NASCAR... dinosaur cars (still with carbies), circle racing, etc. But this year (I have Foxtel) I've found it 10 times more interesting than V8supercars or F1. Still can't watch a whole circle race start to finish but they pass each other so many times on a lap... and they race week in week out. In F1 they qualify in position then spread out over the race with the occasional pass in the pits (last weeks race excluded).

+1

that is, until I did some reading on the history of it. One of the2 best "birth of motorsport" stories eva!!

Go Ambrose.

and Murphy is STILL a dick

all i will say ... that following him in the busch series is like watching another bloke .... He shows respect in NASCAR while in our SUPA V8 series he acted constantly like a whining kid.

wonder if the yanks know about his little extra wire hanging out the motec m800 >_<

Good luck to him

LOL you ran out of people to quote, so you quoted yourself

awesome

I guess that was prety lame - LOL

Having good fun anyway. I'm very interested in the V8 Supercar series over there - can anyone point me to a good website so I can follow it around and check things out. Least I can do for everyone following Ambros over here and www.thehotlap.com

I will be down under sometime in March or late February and would love to go to a race - in fact I will make it a point.

Cheers

Yeah I was never a fan of oval racing until last year when we got to race on the dome at Calder Park as part of the Calder Rally Masters. Going flat out around there was intense and that was 1 car out at at time. So doing it with other cars 5cm's away all around you must take some serious big ones.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
