it was a 4yr old boy that has died, i assume children will be more at risk because of their weak immune system. my job provides me with every farking vacination under the sun so i'm not stressed about it.

just wash you hands all the time, its not about how long between but rather the ratio of good to bad bacteria.

you should all have had your flu vaccination a few months back when it came out...

just remember, the actual influenza infection is not a simple "cold".. if you have the proper flu then you will know it (ie you'll be in bed, and have fluids coming out every orifice)

and as far as fatalities go, have you got a link to any article about it?

the last fatalities were in perth where 2 kids with influenza also had a superimposed staph infection (bacterial infection also) and they became septic, the rest being history. its very rare that just having the flu will kill anyone...

also, i haven't seen many with influenza out at prince charles..

Its probably so bad because we wash our hands and all that stuff too often. Kids these days just dont have an immune system.

That said it is a specific strain of flu, its a bit more harsh than standard flu. Add that with the cold snap, and wallah! Flu epidemic.

I will say I dont think this time it is media hype, if people do as they say it should slow down the spread of it a little bit. Masks is a bit much tho...

Why are masks a bit much for known infective people? I have had to gown and mask up at work occasionally lately because of the big gastro outbreak that seems to be going around the hospitals and nursing homes. Its just a case of controlling the disease and presenting spread.

I didnt have a flu immunisation this year, should have as its free with work but i was away on holiday at the time.

Clarification on this, it just doesnt seem to make much sense? What does washing your hands have to do with good and bad bacteria?

I ant got no cold nor am i getting one... I drink to much for any virus to survive in my body...

But just to be sure I better ban you for a week so you stop posting as it might be contagious through the forum...

lol! :laughing-smiley-014:

i contracted the influenza a virus from a friend on wednesday and ive been in bed since then.. its shit. u cant sleep for very long. really bad fevers. cant eat. get sweaty easially. and u hilusonate... wtf.. is ther a cure..? im trying to beat this one with cold the sphincter of the universe and lots of water..

You can go on steroids like Prednisolone, and other things like sudafed PE they worked for me only had it 1 days full day, then just a cold the second and 3rd day Plus this thing about oh its not the flu unless your in bed for 4 days rah rah rah is a load of crap, its only a figure i only had mine for a good day, and yes it was the flu.

There are strong drugs out there that can help fight it if you got it you just need to know what ones to get. Zinnat 250, Augmentun, Ceclor, Prednisolone, or the usual cold and flu will do the trick, Then there is the herbal stuff that does work, Garlic, Spices, Hot foods, And Zinc, Vit C, What else..Oh and drink plenty of water, even better isotonic drinks gaterade, powerade, at least those will provide essential fluids/salts for the body at the same time.. Not only is it, the flu itself has an incubation period, most times of upto a week, But no matter what its a chance thing as well, Prevention is one way, but you could simply touch that hand rail press that lift button, touch that seat, then eat that food, handle money, and well the list goes on. Shit bloody happens, get over it... Why dont we all where masks AND rubber Gloves hell just bubble us up scotty, Common Sense people.

Not only Clarrification on one thing alone which determines all this, "HUMAN BEHAVIOUR" You cant tell everyone stay home wash your hands blah blah blah, as if they are going to listen, Plus money doesnt make it self, groceries dont just arrive Free on your door step. And no matter what there is always going to be 1 person around you to spread it ALWAYS where ever you go.

Oh oops i forgot closing statement, I once heard there are like 2600 different strains of colds and flu, but only a few are killers,

Good luck with that...

yeah bro. its friggen awful i just want it to end. havent seen a doctor. cause rest and fluids is all they will say  ... want it to end.

Yes rest and fluids thats the way to the long haul. Secondary infections of the flu, indicated by chest pains is sometimes most likely onset of pneumonia, then hospital if its serious enough. When i was in hospital, in the morning of saturday the amount of people with chest related illnesses due to flu and wat not was actually alot. Marki get on to the hot foods curries etc and sweat the fffing thing out of you if your like that, Plus someone prove me wrong on that sinus meds dont help with it? as thats where most of the thing is contained. Colds or Flu's, why do you think they have pseudoephrin and the likes in the cold/flu tabs, your call, And yes it does linger on but once you get the initial part over the cold and running nose crap it can go on for days weeks or months person dependant

markimak, that's terrible to hear, sounds very flu-like to me

some things you can do that are known to help:

- paracetamol helps reduce fevers as its an antipyretic, and should also reduce aches and pains as its also an analgesic. don't take more than 4 to 6 grams per day

- water/powerade helps keep you hydrated, as when you're sweating a lot you can lose more fluids than usual. powerade is good as it helps replenish salts also. drinking too much water is not great either as it can cause low sodium in the blood, you need salts + water.

- sudafed - this contains pseudoephedrine, which acts to help reduce symptoms associated iwth nasal congestion by constricting blood vessels that go to the nose. this doesn't alter the course of any viral illness that has already had systemic effects, such as you describe, but can help with symptoms.

some things not to take

- prednisolone was mentioned by someone above. besides the fact that you can't get it over the counter it is not what you want to be taking. it has many effects, one of which is to dampen the immune system (called immunosuppression) and this will actually allow the virus to work better

there are some influenza-specific medications such as tamiflu but i don;t think anyone would prescribe them without taking a nasal swab to confirm the virus. and by the time the results come back you will be better anyway..

if you don't feel better by monday you really should go and see a GP so they can assess you properly. these viral things are self-limiting so just try to stick it through..

    • I'm working on the assumption that our friend Jasmine here is a Russian (or, possibly Ukrainian) spammer/spambot, based purely on the number of such that I have been having to neuter in the last few weeks. IP address for the OP above was in WA. But that could have been via VPN. Posting at quarter to 4 in the morning is a good sign of being from somewhere in Europe. The last Jasmine that I kicked in the cooch was IP addressed in Ukraine. Even that could have been via VPN, and the bitchbot could have been from Russia, Serbia, China or anywhere. Regardless, was a spambot, so I killed it with fire. The fact that our new friend Jasmine here did not respond in any way to my tart query strongly suggests to me that this OP was just the establishment phase of a user able to be activated for spamming in a week, or 3 or 10.
    • The stock manifold is "mostly" divided. The divider actually has a notch cut out of it where it would meet the divider on a twin scroll housing. I have no idea why. But whatever the reason, it would cause some cross talk when used with a twin scroll housing. People do put twin scroll housings onto that manifold. But I'm of the opinion that proper twin scroll internal gating is...not really possible at this scale. You'd be throwing good effort (ie $$) after bad, when you really should be doing something else. Notwithstanding that.... I am not sure what the idea that you are floating has to do with the difference in comp cover position caused by the highflow using a shorter length core than the stock Hitachi one. Can you clarify what you meant?
