Hey everyone.Im just starting my modding path with my STAG and would like some professional input.

Now i have previously owned 2 XR6 turbos that with basic mods and a tune at 11psi made 310rwkw.Now the stagea is a different kettle of fish and im slowly reading and learning about what to do.My only concern is the turbo as they a weak point with boost so im leaning towards eventually upgrading or rebuilding the standard unit.My aim is around 230 awkw mark which is enough because i dont want to destroy the auto or running gear.So what i want to know is the HKS GT-RS turbo an overkill or do i rebuild the stock turbo?

I still want it to boost reasonably early so anyone with any experience with these turbos would be appreciated.

Cheers

Darren

the standard turbo should be good for this. mines making 200atwkw on 10 pound.

the auto importers where running a serries one at 18 pound no probs but when they where playing with it 24 psi front wheel couldn't take the load and bang exploded.(there only plastic)

my advice is just get the same size t3 as now only with a steel front wheel and steel rear wheel 20 pound here we come

HKS GT-RS makes a little more everywhere compared to an equivalent GCG hi-flow on back to back testing.

there is a slight price premium for the GT-RS (after you cash in your standard turbo in good working order)vs GCG hi-flow. either is a good choice.

GT-RS will comfortably reach your target (with supporting mods).

petrolfix, if you have EGA4ITs car it made 200rwkw not at all four (just to clarify).

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
