That's fair enough tas180.  Is there anyone else who can compliance a r32 under the 15yr rule.  I only know of Gritthis, so if they are rude then i can go else where.

You don't need to get "compliance" on ANY 15yo vehicle, you only need a road worthy and your import documents. If you run into service tas about 4:55pm on a friday arvo I reckon you'd even be able to just reg it from your import docs :) Haven't tried that yet however...

Nah you can't do that. If a car has never been registered in Australia before(well under the 15 year rule) the only way to do so is to get a engineers certificate to show that the car meets Australian Design Rules. An r32 will only meet these standards if you convert the drivers mirror from convex to flat, Install a child restraint (for the baby seat) in the parcell shelf, install new seatbelts and replace the tyres if they are worn too much. Once it meets these standards it will be issued with an adr plate and a certificate provide to take to transport.

Hope this helps others and sorry to hyjack.

Griffo's definitely not rude, has helped me out heaps and saved my bacon a few times when I was doing my engine conversion.

Chris Tanner's custom work for any exhaust/intercooler + piping/plenum/catch can etc etc etc is also unbelievably good. Any work you need done he is your man - TOP QUALITY work at an excellent price.

Was that your VL at the Shannons car show? If so it was very nice!

Will be down in Hobart on the 29th to get my Power FC tuned at Griffths Auto, spoke to him up here durning Rally Tas and Targa when he was looking after a R33 GTR, seems to know his stuff & was very friendly.

Well had the datto's Power FC tuned yesterday by Dave on Po Automoive's dyno (great setup in an insullated room). Dave was fantastic and I learned heaps! Had a best run of 192 rwkw @ about 5900rpm & 14psi. Not to much of a gain at the top end (need that Optimax!!) but between 3000 & 5400 rpm the power curve fatted up by 20rwkw or more. On std boost it's even improoved fuel ecomomy to between 10 to 11 ltrs per 100km, it was 12 to 13 ltrs per 100km's with the std ecu. I thoroughly recommend him!

Nice work, I got a new intercooler coming soon, might have to get a tune down there when I get it on, atm I'm using 50 Litres for 200 kms, hahaha, shocking I know....

Sh*t! 200k's on 50ltrs scary, yeah, I reckon a good tune will fix that. What sort of cooler are you getting? Dave gave me some good idea's on what to try on the datto for some more poke. So it's time for some R & D.

Paul, you are gonna need a decent 'tunable computer' like what wogboy got, remember the Mines isn't programmable, best they will be able to do is adjust the timing and boost i guess.. an O2 sensor wouldn't hurt either buddy!

    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
