Rust On Cam Gears

Just changing my timing belt at the moment and noticed a bit of surface rust on my stock inlet cam gear. It's not really bad but I'm wondering if I should worry at all. Would it be the cam cover gasket/seal? I'm changing the water pump too, but I'm sure that's not leaking cos my coolant level is fine. Maybe i'll take a pic and see what people think.

its normal, they always have surface rust - metal is not stainless steel or alloy

ok that's sweet. shame you'll be able to see it through my clear cover (if psi ever get them finished... ) maybe i'll give the inlet a gentle clean

if it's a worry with them being on display just sand blast it, then paint it black.
