Just wondering how everyone washes their cars these days. I think a few states like vic have water restrictions?

What i been doin is going to the carwash and taking my own buket shampoo and sponge.

- $1 to rinse and fill up bucket

- then wash the car using my own stuf

- Anothe $1 to rinse

Works pretty well :)

Car wash is the best place.

$1, high pressuer rinse the whole car with soapy warm water, and fill up a bucket at the same time.

Wash the car down with the sponge and bucket.

$2, rinse the car off with warm soapy water, and then high pressure rinse all the soap off.

Then chamois the whole car for a nice clean finish.

If the stupid brushes at the car wash where better quality, $5 at my local car wash gets you 16 minutes off wash time. I'd just wash the whole car with that.

Thanks,

Abu

I live in a battleaxe block with a nice sized front sized yard. I wash it as per usual. Before anyone explodes at me, I use a shit load less than I would by cleaning using bucket fulls. I would be quite happy to face the water patrol / police whatever they are and show them in front of their face how much less water I use.

Im massively fussy when I clean my car. I couldnt have it any other way. Using less water I get a better finish and I know that I am using less :P My paintwork isnt the worlds best but I just like to make sure it looks the best it can :(

I've taken it to a car wash once even though Iv sworn I never would but it was actually ok.

Well since you can't wash a car legally in Brisbane without going to a carwash place, I've just been heading there about once a month to keep the car relatively clean. I can do all I want (in a fair rush) for $5, including pre-soak, soap, brush, rinse, spot free rinse.

Fixxxer :P

I think the Vic Government was about to tax rain water? If they do this, no one's gonna get bloody buy rain water tanks.

I use my rain water to wash my car, but haven't in awhile because it rains the next morning. :P

I'm in VIC and use a drum of water that fills with rain water to supply a pressure cleaner. Can also fill buckets with the water for the wash. I have never been to the car wash places but I have heard that you need to be careful of the pre rinse solution. Mainly if you have a new car with a factory paint protection system. This solution can take that straight off and waste the extra $$ you paid for it. I guess it would be similar with wax.

    • I've got a 2011 J50 that I imported six years ago. The unmodified factory AV system date and time has always been correct ( Japanese timezone of course ) up until last month. About two weeks ago, at engine start, the system wished me a happy new year ( in Japanese of course ). I can't think of anything that would make the system think that the date had changed, unless the GPS component has failed/reset somehow ? I checked the GPS reception in the system settings, and it can still see the satellites. Has any other J50 owner had this happen ?  It's no biggie, just annoying that it tells me the wrong date anytime I start the engine. 😅
    • Love following your adventures on IG, hopefully if you're still around in Japan when we visit again wouldn't mind going for a few beers with you (that's if you're keen on hearing how I hate Nissans).
    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
