Hi guys,

I have a question for those that have track experience and know what they are talking about -

Recently I had a track day at wakefield park in my 32 Gts-t and by the end of the day (after pushing the car hard for 60 odd laps) the inside of the front right tyre (i.e. the inside tyre for most corners) had become very worn. I was wondering if anyone could explain this?

The car has stock suspension and when pushed hard into a corner understeered a fair bit (normal I suppose - probably poor driving on my behalf at times :P ) but I have a theory that the tyre could have worn as a result of being dragged across the road during these moments (with very little weight on it obviously). What would be the possible handling upgrades to combat the problem? (I know of SK's handling upgrade package but thats a few $$$ i will need to consider for a while).

very unusual to have more wear on the inside wheel than the outside - when it is understeering its the outside tyre that gets punished.

do you know what the wheel alignment is like on the front, in particular toe?

Still.....60 laps on road tyres is a good day out - they overheat pretty early when pushed and wear very poorly after only a few laps

Thanks Duncan - Yeah, don't have figures on toe at the moment - I have the equipment here to do it just haven't had a chance yet.

I thought the tyres (apart from the unusual wear) held up really well, though a second set of wheels and some race rubber is definately a priority for next time.

Anyone have Ideas what a good time in an (almost) stock 32 Gts-t would be around wakie? I got down to a 1:17.9 hand timed with 2 people in the car.

Btw - I had a look at your car at the SAU Show n shine and it was a very impressive machine - nicely presented too

1:17 is pretty respectable in a near stock 32 with street tyres and stock suspension. Actually, i'd say very respectable.

I'm with duncan, i'd have expected your passenger side front outside edge to be toast with the sort of plough understeer nissan engineered into the front end of a 32 :)

lol and I'm with bhdave 1.17 is pretty respectible on street tyres - there is probably only a second or 2 more in it. Maybe time for some good semi slicks they should get you down to 1.12-1.13

The best i could get out of my R32 GTSt was 1:13.4. That was with a HKS Cat back exhaust. HKS FMIC, 14psi and Yoko DNA tyres which were 2nd hand from a place in Granville but still better then the Falken 326 i used to run. And i had the Whiteline works package. I think if i had nto modified the car i would have been able to get into the very high 1:12s ... maybe. My first go out in the car as imported with cat back exhaust and AVS 17" wheels and 10psi was 1:18.6 or something. (Std suspension) so you are doing better then i was

Edit...to clarify, when i say modify the car i mean from the road tyres, whiteline suspension and std turbo/ecu etc. I would have maybe been able to improve fromt eh 1:13 to a high 1:12 with more laps. Not do a 1:12 with std suspension etc. No way the little girl could have mustered that sort of pace :P

When i did the 1:13.4 i had the Whiteline works suspension package with a pretty good wheel alighment, cat back exhaust and fmic with 14psi. It also had a clutch, so whilst not heavily modified it has too many mods to be calling it almost stock :D

Prior to the suspension upgrade i was in the 1:18s etc. But i only ever did 2 track days before throwing the suspension in it and then the FMIC. The car stayed in that guise for about 3 years and i got my times down to from the previous 1:18s to the 1:13s.

I often wonder how much quicker i would have been able to go just with more laps with the stock suspension? I dont know, maybe a high 1:16??? I think the car would have been capable of a high 1:12 with road tyres and std turbo etc etc just in learning more. But i got impatient and threw more mods at it...so i will never know :(

    • Absolutely could be. I collected data logs from when the O2 sensor was still out and also after I had replaced it so will try to compare them. Pretty confident that the affect is lowered with the new sensor, will check logs at the same RPMs/conditions. 
    • Hey guys Long time lurker, I daily a nm35 stagea 250t rs four and I've had it for almost 2 years (very reliable 👌). Issues or just looking for information ill always find myself here having a read, so thought id join.  3inch stainless intake, pod filter, AM performance turbo dump pipe, 3inch hotdog, 3 and half inch stainless to 3 and half inch AM performance blast pipes. Bc racing coilovers. 18inch rims Hdi intercooler and trans cooler soon.  Here's my car
    • thanks for the advice on the box... i was thinking the 6 speed was better for cruising on the highway but on closer inspection and comparison the Rb 5 speed box was not too different...  So the choice is going to be the RB25 box... if I can save up and find one at the right price  
    • Thanks Matt, yes that's what i am aiming for. Just going to apply the right voltage and grounds to the dash connector. Hence my search for these pins... any chance you know if these pins are in the same spot as the ones on the S15 Dash connector? as mentioned above on page 8?
    • Yes, unfortunately that's the one. Signal was noisy to begin with; after driving once and looking back at the logs I saw pressure constantly swinging between 0-200psi, or staying at 0 randomly for a few seconds. There's a lot of good sensors that share the same look and feel, so don't presume they're all bad. I bought mine for 20$ off Amazon and I should have read the reviews prior, as it's clear they're junk.  I purchased a lowdollerr motorsports sensor.
