If they can have unmarked police cars in our community trying to provoke and catch street racers, why can't they set up stings on parked Skylines (well there are other cars they could use, but not nearly as desirable IMHO :P ). Have them fully monitored, speed limited (<10kmh) and immobilise them as soon as they take off – oh and don’t forget having it all on film :P

They can't say it’s because of the risk to life... most of these kids are too young to have a licence and are life threatening the second they get away with these cars (Google died stolen car and see how common it is).

Is anyone aware of any schemes currently in place to reduce auto theft in ACT?

Yeah here's a scheme that's just been announced in the last few days.....AFP will no longer chase cars suspected of being stolen.

hmm okay... I think I have it worked out... we can't speed in our own cars

What we need to do is steal each others cars and we can speed all night and they won't chase us :P

Im getting so paranoid now/ I park in a carpark where barely no one goes through during the middle of the day. Im contemplating just bussing it.. haha

haha wouldnt that be the worst thing you can do, i park in the busiest possible area closest to the entrance to the shops (not just because im lazy)

They do this in America seen it on them police video shows

If u have a car stolen u will see how piss poor the cops are , NSW cops this is i have not dealt with the AFP.

First time i had to ring the cops and ask them to charge the person they found driving my car , for insurance , u think i asked them to break the law or something

Second time the cops accused me of doing it , threatened to arrest me , than asked for me not to report my car stolen as it makes their reporting better the fewer stolen cars each year

There should also be a rego check system in place at fuel stations (no fuel means no drive). I work at one and asked my Area manager about it and he said they tried and there was complications. As far as I'm conserned 'complications' indicate it will cost them too much. Just letting everyone know, fuel stations can write off drive-offs under insurance and tax, so they dont actually lose money so its cheaper for them not to care. But bringing to the point, the kids who do steal them who are too young to even have a licence probably dont even have a cent on them, so the police wont bother with it as there is no money to be made, and they just release them so they can do it again. I'll keep an eye out for it. If only we could get blowfish poision for our steering wheels...

    • Physically, you'd expect it to turn the motor 11/8ths faster than a standard one, but I'm not sure of specifics
    • Ironically the GTT was quite reliable in the 7 years of ownership. From memory I've only had to replace a radiator and coilpacks out of inconvenience
    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
    • Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count.
