If the ignition is not switched on I cannot see how the system is pressurized. The fuel pump must be working to do this. When changing the fuel filter, I suggest disconnecting the battery just to be safe. It is also wise to do it when there is not much fuel in your tank.

Good luck

i wouldn't stress too much.. i jsut pulled the hoses off, a bit of petrol sprayed places (which i later cleaned).. and clamped it back up..

Ran the car for a minute or so just idling, and it repressurises itself basically.

Whenever I change the fuel filter I just let the car sit overnight. ie, get home Friday night, then change the filter next morning or afternoon. There's never any pressure in the line, I just put a towel underneath to catch the stuff that drips out.

Don't be too worried about a hot engine igniting the petrol, it's actually a lot harder to ignite than you think. Especially premium fuel.

I work on a cold (or moderately warm) engine for my own safety, I've had more than enough burns due to a hot engine to learn my lesson.

LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
