Hi peoples, just wondering if any1 out there can help me understand these problems i have.

1.) I have a greddy turbo timer and everytime when its cold usually its makes weird ticking sounds but really fast. Thats the 1st problem.

2.) Everytime i put my foot on the accelrator my turbo timer kinda resets it self, it turns off then back on again, this sometimes also happens when i am down shifting. I got it tested with a multimeter and it picked up that everytime the accelrator is pressed, my voltage drops from 12v to 9v i think if i remember right, but anyway, it should drop at all should it?

Anyone have a solution? I was thinking maybe i need a battery that puts ut more? or will that not make a difference?

Help Please!!

Thanks

Problem Child :D

boostr32 : like its already been said find a better ground and power signal. if that doesn't work the timer has probably shit itself. there could be a dodgey connection under your drivers side dash and when you are pressing the accelarator and clutch in its pulling/bumping/disrupting the ground or 12v supply.

dmr: there is a wire on most timers that goes to your handbrake switch. theory being that if some one tries to steel your car when the timer is still running your car will shut off when they take the hand brake off. does your handbrake light come up on your dash when the hand brake is on? if it doesn't you hand brake switch is probably shagged on has lost its connections. if it does then the signal wire to the timer has lost its connection to the hand brake switch.

seems my ebrake light doesn't come up in the cluster..

i think i might have jerked it when i moved my timer to a new position in the car.

where is the connection?

So would it be ok if i used the ground and positive from my cd player/deck? Or would you suggest to just create a new power supply from the battery for other hardware to use also? Sorry if im coming out a little stupid. Dont know much atm!!!

    • Sane enough. Remove the roof liner, because the acid will go everywhere.
    • Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help and experienced opinions.  I have spent a lot of my life working on boats so I'm pretty good with fibreglass. I'll take everybody's advice in here;  I'll cut a little more of the 2nd layer away as it's a bit crunchy rust and also it's sitting high now. Then I'll wire brush it all a bit to get off anything loose, then I'll soak the bejesus out of it all in rust converter. I'll make sure to get a little hose piece and feed it into all the holes and gaps between the roof layers. Then I'll fibreglass up the holes.  Then I'll get a pallet of filler and mix it with 3 buckets of hardener and hope that is enough to build up the roof corner.  Does that sound sane? Is one type of filler better than others for this?
    • My goals for it atm are to get it registered, respray and some mild power gains eventually... I picked up the car from an elderly gentleman near the border of NSW and VIC, its honestly a bit rough and looks like its been driven on a farm (because there was so much dirt underneath). Last week I dropped the subframe and emptied the old fuel out + added a new fuel pump (think the old one went bad from old fuel). Now I'm onto fixing a coolant leak at the rear of the engine + adding a new radiator as the old one is corroded. After that i have a new bumper, coils (as the old were leaking) and lots more
    • Welcome buddy! Plenty on here and YouTube. What are your plans for it? Good luck with the Rwc and Rego bud!
    • Love this so much! Please post a photo when you have a bike on the trailer.  I was a little bit worried about having a tow bar on the Skyline, but having it hidden behind the number plate is genius
