yeah the break in period is fun

If you are going Naturally aspirated, usually don't rev it too hard for the first 1000km, use a mineral based oil, good quality but definitely not synthetic

If you are going turbo, the easiest thing to do is just remove the wastegate actuator flap, so it's open, or the spring if it's external I think

after the break in, drain the oil and put a good synthetic in there :P then get a better tune and crank out the fun  4th gear burnouts with vids FTW

My 2c..

Give it a go, if you have knowledgable help and the resources :/

My mechanic mate and I performed a twincam 30 conversion on my 32 in a weekend.. had a few teething problems but I did drive it home 3am Monday morning running rich as hell on the stock ecu :)

I got a prepped block, forgies and head off my mate and threw stock crank and rods in there and swapped everything off the RB20.. should have had the crank ground to begin with but you get that :) had to pull the engine out a month later and whack a new crank in it (only cost ~$300 for a new crank, machining and a set of bearings).

Now, Phase II: Birth of the GT35R is approaching

Cummon guys dont be so down. Go out and buy a good engine reconditioning book, and study it, bear in mind you will have to spend about $1000 on tools assuming you already have the simple tools like spanners and sockets, but youll spend that money on labour anyway. Get the motor machined up and assemble yourself, checking everything twice. Hire an engine crane for the weekend_or buy one, there like $200 on ebay) and swap them yourself, save you money and give you twice the satisfaction.
+1 with what Adriano said.

+2 with Adriano. Although i personally would get the engine built by a pro, and do the engine swap over myself. you will save atleast 1500 swapping the engine yourself and have peice of mind your engine was built by a pro.

    • I've replaced the front brakes of my NA to 324 brembos and 350z calipers: i'm going for 225/40-18 up front and 245/35-18 in the back. I have Rays 7.5*19 ET35(225/35) in the front with 5mm spacers otherwise the calipers "lock up/ won't rotate". When i use the calculator i come up with 8*18 ET30 for 225/40...... but not sure i get problems with the calipers. Anyone riding around with 18 inch. that can confirm "that it'll fit"? In the back it's 7.5*9 ET30 (245/30) with the 5mm spacers, but there is no problem with the standard small brakes, so i want to take 8.5*18 ET25 (245/35).
    • Lol.. but then.. always come back to a JDM..
    • Glad to hear. If possible, get your tuner to check air's to make sure everything is still where it should be.
    • The problem with FB/Insta/Reddit etc comments relating to cars is simple. You get to ask a question once, and get one round of replies. For things that can actually be answered in a few lines of text, once, it's fine. After 6 hours, your original question is lost to the void. There are no follow ups, additional questions, anything. No project car is ever such a simple list of questions to ask. You need discussion.
    • Welcome.  Here's what I have noticed about forum vs FB..... FB; seems to be wallet racing, and the same few questions asked over and over. There *may* be some groups that are closer knit, but most have changed for the worse. SAU; unfortunately, no longer in its glory days. But....genuine people with similar interests. Not all about how much you spent and saying you dont have enough power. Sooooooo much knowledge available. Have personally seen people post up about literally topics I made myself, asking on FB like no one has done it before. Most has been done, and most of that is here.   If you ever feel like just general chatting theres the wasteland.  Other interests are also generally covered in other areas of the forum. Hope you enjoy hanging around. We would love to have you.   P.s. nice 32 😀
