No particular reason for posting this, just sharing my last week as it had its ups and downs.

Started off with Monday, but I will begin the story with Thursday, and link Monday back into it.

Had basketball out at Carina on Thursday night, and on my way back through the Gabba, noticed a cop behind me, in the lane next to me. He was speeding up the road, but as soon as he saw my car, slowed down and pulled behind me, so I knew I was getting pulled over. Lights come on, and we pull over in the Dan Murphy's car park. Only one cop, gets out with the brethyliser (spelling?) ready. Makes no attempt to use it though, instead does a lap around the car. Notices that I don't have a front number plate and quizes me about it.

Now the front number plate missing is the Monday story. I had posted earlier that a van had hit my car, and all this other bullshit about the insurance agency. Finally got the car fixed about a month ago (big thanks to Tuf33 on here. Great work and fantastic price), and on Monday, as my girlfriend was reversing out to go to work, she managed to somehow revers the car straight into the front of my new bumper, cracking it and ripping the number plate off. So I have had three front bumpers in the space of 6 months, with the current one managing to stay whole only for 4 weeks. Now it's got a nice big crack down the front right hand side of it, and no front number plate.

So i tell him that story, and then he asks why there is no rego sticker on my car. Told him it had fallen off about a month earlier, and as the rego was due for renewal in about three weeks, didn't bother getting another one. Car was registered. Pulls out his book and tells me that the fine for no number plate is $200, and for the missing rego, $60, and asks for my licence.

Silently wishing testicular cancer upon him, I give him my licence. He has a look at it, reads my name, and asks "Are you Yugo by any chance?" meaning if I am Yugoslavian. I answer "Yup", to which he replies "So am I. Don't worry about it." and hands me my licence back. Had a quick chat to him about life back in the mother country, all the while silently taking back my curses, and wishing him a strong sex drive long into his ageing life. Told me to get those things fixed and off he went, so god bless Yugoslavian police men and women, you are the salt of the land. Good people.

And then on friday, not much of a story, managed to run a yellow, which turned into a red and got flashed by a camera. My first ticket in the skyline in the year and a half that i have owned it. Bummer.

Anyways, just thought i would share that with you.

good story.. quite a good read..

very lucky mate..

just a question about redlight cameras.. whats the fine and point deduction and also.. is it tkes a picture when u enter when red or when u leave the square when red..

When you cross the start of the intersection after its gone red, you can half way across when it turns red if you want.

haha, the first week i got my skyline back in 05 and the 3rd week i'd been in melbourne a mate and i decided to go and have some fun in the wet.. unfortunently the area we picked just happened to have a police station on the first corner we flew around.. about 3 corners up we pulled over to pick up my mate who was over some chics house trying to make a low profile exit when all of a sudden a police car speeds up the street and stops behind mine, lights flashing..

the two got out, one was a sergent the other had no stripes, the sergent went around my car, got me to pop the hood and instantly pointed out the BOV, intercooler and pod fitler, stating straight away that they were illigal modifcations and the exhaust was too loud.. he started writing me a canary for all of these offences whilst the other officer checked the legitimacy of my licence and wrote me out the victorian equivilent of "creating smoke and noise" whilst my mate who had just made a quick exit from the house stood there shaking his head in shame as the chic's family had all come out the front to watch.. lol

anyway after like 15 minutes of him writing, he checked my licence and goes "oh.. you're from queensland mate" to which i replied "aha yeah" thinking he was going to f**k me even harder, but he replied "wow, i was born and raised in sandagate, i was school captain at sandgate high", and i laughed and said yeah i went there too, then said i was down here with the army.. he then went something like "oh well, all checks out mate, take it easy and drive safe, make sure you get those mods fixed up. have a nice night" then winked at the family and they jumped in there car and sped off, wheels spinning lol

good times, gotta love victorian police, so much cooler than there queensland counterparts :google:

sorry if i hijacked your thread :P

haha nice, Cops allways treat you better in uniform. i got pulled up leaving base in brissy last year for an RBT i wasn't drunk but i would have been over the .00 limit all the guys in the car were pissed but we were all in uniform, the coppa put the unit in the car winked at me then said have a great day mate...

a mate of mine with a reaal nice R32 got pulled over by the same coppa he pulled out of a fight in Timor a few years back, the coppa ripped up a whole bunch of fines and then proceded to talk to him for all most 40mins haha.

one time practicing on the street i was on my way back to the main road and a cop past us and did a u turn.. and followed for a while pulled me over and a mate in his celica.. went round car and asks if i was doin burnouts.. which i wasnt.. as thats a waste of rubber.. ill slide it if i can. but anyway.. he goes.. "ah ur car stinks smells like smoke.." i said its the clutch.. if u pop the bonn..(realising im asking him to snoop my car out) uh smell around the front of the car u can smell the clutch.. he then told me about the steering wheel a nardi.. being a defect as i should have a airbag.. and sent me on my way.. nice blokes not too bad.. if they checked my rear tyres they would see im down to belts.. lol.. they wer actually flapping on my inner rear guard on the way home

^^^^^

See, what did I tell you guys.

Yugos, salt of the earth. Good people

:)

Ps. Can anybody recommend a nice R33, series 2 front spoiler, and where to get it from? Got a gtr one at the moment, but thinking of putting something else on.

    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
