With THIS diff cover, would the standard R180 moustache bar be of any use?

Also with the diff cover gaskets, are they readily available in oz? For memory last time i went to repco and bursons they were useless, had to buy gasket paper and make my own..

Ive always used gasketgoo for diff covers...i also tried nissan and they couldn't get anything.

So your putting an r200 diff into your mr30? With 1600's you can run an r180 with the standard r160 mustache bar. But if you want to go r200 you need a custom one because they are much larger. So in an mr30 you would probally have to use a dr30 one.

i spent 9 hrs on stripping the wreck yesterday.... i have the m'bar layin in the spares bucket... i can measure it for ya when i get home?

the most frustrating thing for me was i could NOT get the diff off.... the bolts are FUSED tight... i even tried grinding the nuts off... (then a spark got past my glasses and burnt my eye lid...fkn!)

the landlord has given me until lunchtime tomorrow to remove the wreck and associated shit piles... so i been really busy!)

if you can do that it would be great. What did it used to support an r200 or an r180?

that diff must have been stuck on real good! That spark must have killed!! At least you didnt get your eye..

  • 2 weeks later...

It was a stock R180, but the R200 bar is not so much the spacing between the bolts but the extra bend in the it to compensate for the larger diameter of the crown wheel.

If your thinking of using a finned cover like gets on ebay, then an all new bar has to be made because the spacings are further apart as well as the extra bends.
