Hey Aaron, since when does $1299 - $1149 = $300 (JJ prices)

lol @ your maths. What is it you do again?

lol yeh whatever.

i wouldnt justify it even if it was $50 more.

the only difference between them is is the centre cartridge size, BR's hold more oil and the smallest of amounts at that.

same settings and everything else.

Yep thanks for that Leon. I saw the V1's, any noticeable difference in ride or adjustability?

No, I think the V1's work exactly the same & a few guys have been running them for a while now with no probs.

However, Paul @ STT won't sell them 'cause they are "unproven". What? I think they've been around longer than the BR's lol.

I think he likes the bigger damper (maybe thinks it will be stronger?) and I suppose our cars are pretty heavy.

In any case the options for me were buy the BR's from him or spend more money & get the V1's from JustJap. No brainer in this instance.

Haha, yeah, I'm with you. Mainly 'cause I liked the colour more though lol. But in the end I got the other cheaper anyways (see previous post).

i rekon the cartridge is different.

if yours is set on 9 from the hardest setting, and youre ok with that. mine would be rock solid.....

You may be right Iain. Scotty runs his V1's on about mid setting (15?) from memory & says very compliant.

mines rock solid at 9, i have mine set to 15 pretty much and its still firm.

perhaps you should also check your spring load, this would definitely add to its stiffness

theres no difference bar a few ml extra of oil. its so the oil can run cooler. which doesnt make a difference unless your tracking the thing.

and STT cant provide a warranty even though they said they can, he is NOT an authorised dealer.

dude its the same man, im telling you.

check your spring loading. mines only just tightened up. and 15 all round pretty much its still firm but comfortable because of the springs.

everythings the same man

Hello, this is news to me.

I doubt it's a problem tho. I mean, he's ordering mine direct from the factory (I know 'cause we were discussing spring rates & what was available) & I'm pretty sure he would send them back if there was any issues inside of warranty period (which I doubt).

His whole business is based on trust / word of mouth etc. You don't throw that away over a few hundred dollars.

my springs are set so they are captive in the seats, very little preload. and i can tell the difference between damper settings and spring pre-load :P

i still rekon they are different. only one way to find out!!

I was told otherwise, being BC's i dont think anything could go wrong but yeh...

come down to melbourne and say that :whistling:

ok so the difference is the diameter of the damper. bigger cartridge and more oil. yes aaron, a significant amount lol

What spring rate did you go for Leon?

2kg/mm less than standard at both ends, so ummm 10 & 8. At one stage the factory said they didn't have any 10's so I was looking at 8's F & R, which is very close to the Nismo rates I think.

Would have been pretty happy with that as I reckon Nismo probably know their product, but in the end they found some 10's & that's what coming.

My prediction: - No one will be able to tell the difference if they drive mine & compare it to their standard BRs lol. 2kg/mm will probably make stuff all difference. I think it will all be about the damper settings.

if thats the only difference, then to me, thats no difference. seriously a couple of ML's of extra juice isnt something to sing and hoorah about,

well actually a couple of mm's does make a difference!.....wave.gif

not to me, and chances are not to a lot of people that dont contstantly drive on a track unlike yourself.

like I said I couldnt justify the extra cost so i didnt get the BR's, but thats me.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
