Ni,

I have been offered jobs all over the middle east. I picked the 'depends on the cash' option in your poll but that doesn't cover it....basically on top of the cash incentive you want to be looked after as Ziad suggests. Make sure you understand the local customs etc and have a good idea what is going on in the country.

Personally I would only go on a short term basis (3 month) and if you like it you can extend. I know more about working in saudi and as a westerner you can only get a 3 month working visa and have to leave the country and come back in. Also it is extremely hard to get a visa for a western female even if she is your wife.

If you want any more info contact via PM or email mate :)

Contact 1900 BLACK WARTER for personal security j/k :)

Kuwait is pretty safe these days insn't it? Haven't heard nothing on the News lately and not to consider all this 6 figures wages from most of the oil ridge contries, two words Ni, DO IT.

the more i talk to people about the place that actually know something about it and arent idiots like me that generalise about the area, the more i hear about it, the more i like the sounds of it.
As long as you don't ask a redneck that thinks that all muslim countries are full of people who run around saying "durkah durkah" you'll find that that's the general sentiment.

Avoid palestine, libya, syria, iraq, afghanistan and iran, as those places tend to be a bit volatile depending on who's in power and what mood they're in and the rest of the places are nice places.

The best thing about jobs in the middle east is that you can negotiate higher pay and allowances for relocation, accomodation etc. and they're usually willing to pay to get skilled labour on board.

dam... and i had heard such great things about Afghanistan!

going to get more info from my mate on the job and exactly what there after and offering... if its as good as he says it is then i think i will take Ants suggestion on the 3 month thing... then i'll take 3 months paternity leave from my current job and head over... if it doesnt work out... come straight back to my job here. If i like it... and they like me... see where it leads.

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the 2025 build re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I quite rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
