I need a 98 Series 2 Stagea Outer Driver Side Taillight, it is the one with a clear indicator above the brake light.

Am will pick up in the Brisbane area or surround, otherwise would pay postage for interstate.

try darrin he has a set you will be hard pressed to find just the bit your looking for without buying a set as nobody will seperate them......... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=184520

The full set is only worth $250AU from JP Yahoo, so i don't know how you got $500!

If i were to go halves in your set of rear taillights, the side indicators arn't worth 250, so unless beastin is willing to pay more for the middle lights??

If you can get me a full set for $250 in Australia, I will by a set off you

It is irrelevant what you pay for them on Yahoo. It is great if you live in Japan.

You can buy a stagea for $1-3k off yahoo, but it will cost you alot more once it is in oz.

A $250 set off yahoo works out to be approx $470 landed going thru Slidewise.

Condition unkown, take the risk. EMS freight 6kg's is approx $120-130 alone

Good luck finding what you want, maybe try Supercheap, I remember seeing some there for under $200 a full set!

I rang Nissan, you can get the RH outer for $344 (trade) brand new.

So a full set would be over $1400!

Makes my set for $500 look pretty goo I think.

Ok is there anyone else out there who has an outer taillight??

Cuz if i wanted to deal with a knob head id goto supercheap (no offence mate).

mmmmmm now for my 2 cents worth mate.1....... id listen to the people here that know what things are worth because they have been there and done that.2......i wouldnt go calling people names because just makes u look like a 13 year old farkwit who thinks he knows all.3....... i recon darrins price is verry reasonable and if you recon you can do better go ahead.

Set of taillights from Yahoo will easily cost you around $500 delivered.

If Darrins are guaranteed top condition, and he states they are, it is quite a good deal.

What about if I buy the set, and sell you the two outers for $200 plus postage?

Ditto as above,

a few months ago you would have struggled to get a set for $600 delivered out here, and be waiting weeks. Granted our dollar is ok against the yen at the moment, but writing off Darrin's price without having an idea of the actual cost of getting a set into the country is just plain dumb mate.

Never bite the hand that feeds you .. and most of the guys on this forum know their sh!t so you'll probably want to keep some friends for when you need some help :)

Thank you for the advice. But in future if you don’t have anything constructive to add to the Topic please don’t bother posting up.

Thanks again.

buddy that was constructive advice that i gave you if you are not man enough to take it as it was ment i doubt that you will find any help here from the members who have always tried to help each other out.if they dont agree on a price here or advice given they have the decency to discuss it via pm with who ever they have a gripe etc not blatantly call one of our well respected members names in here.grow up ...regards mike......................ps if anyone else feels i have said the wrong thing here feel free to tell me as we have always done ...

as always mike from my point of view you are right on the money!

and a small side note to havnfun

as all the other posters in here have said the price from darren is very reasonable as last time i got a quote on gettin some from jp it was gonna be around 650 aus by the time they got here, and that was with no guarentee of how they would arrive as there is little in the way of insuring items like that against breakage. even if there was its a bloody long wait to get another set and same deal is that there is no guarentee of what condition they are in before they leave.

also it is unwise to upset people on forums such as these by calling them childish names, in the end we are all on here to gather as much knowledge as we can from each other, and also to share what knowledge we have with new comers in the hope that they too can impart what they have learned in future. getting people off side only hinders you from help in time, and its usually when you need it most with an odd/rare problem that guys like darren etc. have dealt with in the past, and i am sure that the info would most likely not be forthcoming.

just my 2 cents

cheers oxford

    • Actually, that's not entirely true. It's also the same motor in the 1st gen Nissan Cube but they're rare as hen's teeth.
    • Yeah it is always worth testing and balancing actuators out of the box, just set the pressure regulator on a compressor very low (eg 5 psi) and increase it slowly to see when they both move.....unfortunately while you may be able to adjust the length of the actuator rod to minimise any difference, the actual pressure they move from is not adjustable so you need a well matched pair. And yes, the VCAM is probably contributing; the earlier in the rev range they come on boost and the slower the revs build (I think your demo was in 5th), the more you notice it.  Driving at WOT through 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc you will probably never hear it as any shuffling starts and is over super quickly
    • oh they were with that motor, you need to remove the engine to change the spark plugs (don't have to, but it does make it easier)
    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
