Which day for the track day? No dates yet. Tickets would be around the 150 to 155 mark with these numbers.

I was thinking extra money goes into making the banner for the ACT, and any extra money after that goes into maybe starting the ACT sau club, if there is interest in doing so.

Great idea except even using Wakefield insurance it still leaves the organiser open to be sued as well.

I'm tossing up the ideas, possibly doing it under the ACT supra club banner and splitting the "profits" with the club. Or possibly doing it under the SAU NSW club banner. Since we are trying to make it more of an ACT organised type event (with NSW invited) I'd lean toward doing it jointly with the ACT Supra club.

Just remember there is the possibility of making a loss even if we get 30 cars. I'd impose a limit of 60 cars, but the closer to 60 the better. My session with the Ferrari club and 30 cars left me with so much track time, I kept having to find more fuel.

There are small but active clubs in the ACT for WRX's and EVO's that would contribute probably 5 each to the day.

ACT Skylines 5

ACT Supra 5

ACT WRX 5

ACT EVO 5

Leaves us well short. Double it if we invite NSW clubs and we are getting into safer territory.

^ yeah I agree,

More track time that you could ever want and timed.

I was thinking for one award to have a regularity (this will get more slower cars/drivers out, to boost numbers) it means that the person with the least difference between all there times with a minimum number of laps say 10 laps gets the prize.

This could be quite a boost to numbers, might be wrong,

Just letting everyone know this has not been forgotten about and I will be looking at the possibility of organising this, probably on a Friday looking at the votes and costs.

Probably early next year but dependant on insurance.

I would be looking at some volunteers for the day, particularly anyone with good mechanical experience for scrutineering or experience flagging.

Victoris SAU coming to Wakefield http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t176741.html

I haven't heard back on their numbers and if they can squeeze more in. I've been heavy in study and haven't had time to chase up.

just digging this up.... not trying to sound lazy or anything, but anyone heard any more on this? i'd do it myself, but i wont have the time until next year... im happy to say that my car will be track ready again by the end of the year, so look out boys and girls!

Yeah mate, looks like this wont happen till next year.

I havent forgotten about it.

The prices will be higher next year, so the cost will go up a little. Dont think it will be much though.

Once my GTR's back on the road it will give me the modivation i need to finish organising this.

The pole will still be used as a guide for what day it will be held on.

I think Friday will be the go at this stage. Cheaper and more people can make it.

Just got a quote back from an events organiser in Sydney and I'll follow up wit him. I'd prefer to let someone like Dereck organise the whole thing.

But most important people need lead time for gettings cars ready, saving up some money etc. The more lead time the more people can make it.

I'll talk to Dereck as well and see what he can do with regard to the day.

Thought i'd drag up this thread again. There are a few other clubs we could invite:

BMW (very active club and apparently have some track specific cars)

REACT (rotors)

If we were struggling for numbers, we could possibly contact a few more clubs through CACTMC http://www.actmotorclubs.org.au/

Good ideas Donnon, I'm waiting back from 5th gear on how they would like to structure the day.

My idea to make sure we get numbers was to run it as a Nissan V Toyota day, to keep the competition feel. Ross in the ACT supra club is keen to run 3 events (Track, Drag, Dyno) over the year, and I think this is a good idea (dyno day with two clubs ensure plenty of numbers).

Dereck has worked with several clubs and with him running the day I believe they would be more inclinded to attend.

As for other clubs we have

SAU NSW

SAU VIC

300zx

Nissan Sports car club

Nissan Silvia

Mr2 (quite an active club it appears)

Canberra Celica's

Supra NSW

Supra VIC

Obviously ringin's would be welcome if we were looking for numbers, and being a first event of this type I expect we will need them.

what sort of things would an individual bring to a track day, as i've never been to one before?

There's several threads in the motorsport section that cover this.

I normally take:

A good attitude, be there to have SAFE fun.

Food, track food is expensive and often tasteless

Water, you will sweat if you are trying your hardest

Pen and paper to record your best times

Money for Wakefield licence, photo's, food etc

Your drivers licence

Clothing:

Long sleeve shirt, prevents sunburn and is needed for legalities

Helmet

Enclosed shoes, runners

Enclosed pants, jeans work fine.

Sunnies, turn that last corner and get blinded by the sun, not so good.

Your car, with new oil and car checked all over by yourself or mechanic recently (no good turning up paying money and your car gets knocked back for unsafe car)

Engine Oil, RB's use oil around the track and turbo's like oil.

Tyre pressure kit, at least a gauge, a pump if possible.

Tyre changing gear

Make sure clothing is 100% cotton, no nylon

leather joggers are okay so long as they don't have a nylon top

Sunblock (mum ;) )

I think its optional for this day, but think about a small a fire extinguisher, around $18-$22 from Autobarn/SuperCheap etc but must have a metal frame (not plastic) then you can come to our comp days, hillclimb etc when you get the bug (ohhh yeah.. you're gonna get the bug)

and ask lots of questions, we're all happy to help where we can.

Get some practice, come to the SDMA Hillclimb on 9th Dec, scrutineering will be tougher, but well worth it.

1. You forgot the R31 Skyline club

If it's a weekend, atleast two members will be keen... That is if it doesn't coincide with a drift day.

Yes them indeed, I tend to consider them part of SAU anyway. Would probably be on a Friday due to costs.

    • Sounds more like what Brad said, that it's mainly transfer. What pad bed in procedure did you use, and did you replace/machine the rotors, or just swap pads?
    • The stutter is almost entirely in the pedal. I don't feel the brakes release and reapply as you would with ABS engaging but the pedal feels that way, without the brakes releasing. It only lasts for less than a second and the pedal is fine again. It's hard to explain, sorry.  I'll get under this weekend and just double check everything is tight. Fluid is at max where I left it.
    • What bedding in procedure did you use?   When you say stutter, what exactly do you mean? Like it feels like someone letting go of the brakes momentarily and regrabbing them again to get you to stop? Re-reading your post, and that is what it kind of makes me think you're explaining, like theres a little bit of a jolt, likely just as you're reaching a stop. I've only had this issue once. And if its caused by what caused mine, you will want to get the car up on stands again and check it over. Mine was a case of a caliper mounting bolt coming out and letting the caliper rotate on the other remaining bolt and gave play in a wheel as it came to a stop. But not every stop either!
    • Yeop... binned it   This will be a summary will not many pics atm and cbf  Fixed the samsonas - it was totally munched Put a new precision 7675 T4 on with proper split pulse mani Got to Sydney to get to car - drove to canberra to get racecar - drive back to sydney that night Next day all day at Plasmaman putting on new clamps cleaning some things up and adding another large engine oil cooler sitting at the rear above diffuser to keep things cooler Next day - Tuesday - on Dyno - killer wikid awesome pumped out really good numbers - more mid range and on lower boost levels Wednesday - first prac - all day again getting the suspension right - had to borrow front suspension again - out do a lap come in - out do a lap - in - what i had just couldnt handle the load at the more consistent higher speeds - got a lap in at the end of the day that was pretty reasonable  Put it this way that lap wouldve had me in 4th in Pro am for the whole event - with only 700 hp and used tyres Thurs first official prac day - lap out warm up - then entered a hotlap with above setting and 80% effort took corners 1,2,3 and into 4 car felt awesome -  rear came around out of nowhere bang into the wall near front on at whatever 140 kmph Done, over, gone Just one of those how did that happen apparently as all indications show nothing out of the ordinary Got to spend the rest of the time at the event like I hadnt done before - was actually Ok mainly as I had my family and my boy is 9 and got treated like a rockstar Long trip home, lost a trailer wheel in nowhere land, X5 airbag suspension gave up half way across nullabour and rode on bumps stops (its now completely fine) had to do a 19 hr drive day on day 3 as accommodation got screwed up so just had to keep driving till found a town with some Now to reassess - hopefully the motor and other things are OK but yet to be seen too. There is no easy fix there is no i'll just order that part and get it sent - we'll have a talk to people see what can happen and what the go is but at minimum its rebuild from scratch struts forward and alot of time effort and $ should and if I return and if but maybe/ when  I have the cage tied into the front strut towers - if I didnt have that things couldnt been worse you can say its just a front end but if you know what goes into these cars... you'll know what that actually means in reality   Car was very fast. Disappointing we just didnt get to show it Effort doesnt win you races though     Apparently this is motorsport !
    • Thanks, will do that.  Thankfully they still feel great.
