that explains the commotion outside of work lastnight.

walk out to see cops and security all over the place.

that in reply to me??

if so then it actually happened at Elizabeth, and the police were

waiting for me at the Adelaide train station.

yeah, was in reply in to you.

bout what time did you get in? the local boys in blue had 2 'events' in a relatively short frame of time. both involving some of the less than friendly natives.

morning all

happy new years too (im a total opposite to Whiplash and gettin in a day late haha)

lol, they can't even fine you. :D

what they have to do is pull u over, then u gotta wait while they call up traffic police to come out and deal with the situation. i know this cos it happened to me, i got pulled over by a unmarked detective cos i crossed a solid white line. they presume im dui so i had to wait 15 minutes for a traffic cop to come out and breathalyse me

yes they can. Been there done that. Got a fine for excessive noise and smoke coming onto richmond road. Mind u i argued my point from it being a "burnout" to a "powerslide" :worship:

lol i had one of those pull me over also claimed i was doing 80 in a 60 after a commodores hooned past me and sone other random but pulled over the import, he checked out the story i told him and let me go i thought it was a bit strange they were also in uniform i started thinking they were starforce ?? black as black land rover with the ladder things on top with bright as bright LED blue red lights

STAR group in uniform.............................yes, ive seen it. Flashbacks to a couple of years back coming from West Tce onto North Tce and having them come BELTING up behind and asking me to pull over further up. Useless as traffic cops cos they didnt know what my car was (they knew it was a nissan but were standing right by an R31 SKYLINE CLUB sticker on my 1/4 window at the time)

ah it happened about 9:10pm at Elizabeth, got into the city about 10pm

Happy New Year to all! Hope yours were better than mine, my 5 year relationship came to an end last night, I'm absolutely devastated. Flew out to Melbourne yesterday arvo only to fly back home today heart broken and to add insult to injury the flight cost me $440

Aww Luke sorry to hear :) Hope you feel better soon..Hopefully she will change her mind???

That's the hope too Jess! We have had problems for a while but nothing that we can't get through. She told me that she still loves me so hopefully our paths will meet again one day :)

Hope you work it out, are you planning on seeing her soon?

Well she is in Melbourne at present, I went to see her 3:00PM NYE and ended coming home at about 11:00AM on 1/1/08 because of the whole mess. She's coming back this weekend so I'm planning on surprising her and picking her up from the airport with some nice flowers and a big teddy. Hopefully that along with some nice words and a bit of luck and we'll get a second chance at this :P

Sorry to hear that Luke, BUT on the other side..

Schutzenfest is comming up soon, and there are always lots of hot (often drunk) chicks there

From memory the hottest ones turn up at the end of the day - the more I drink the more of them I see (Revolation - alchohol must be magnetic)

well the police rang and i have to go there 2moro night and get more photos taken

coz of all the other bruises i have and to talk about going top court.

there currently going through the video footage now, so hopefully it's on there

um they told my mum they have the Aboriginals details.

    • I get that taking off the head is best but that's a bit much for "just" valve seals. I was just under the impression that one would be able to rotate to TDC and be able to temporarily drop the valve without losing it and effectively having to remove the head to then recover it. I never knew people actually pushed rope into the cylinder to do valve seals hahaha So just to confirm, just going to TDC will not work? In that case I know when I do valve seals I'll maybe just remove the head and do some other things while I'm there, or just wait until I do an engine build.
    • The old approach was to fill the cylinder/chamber with a length of rope pushed in through the sparkplug hole. The new approach is to connect compressed air to the sparkplug hole and fill it with enough pressure to push the valves up. Doing either of these things with the head on and the engine in the car is a lot less pleasant than doing it properly.
    • Can't you put the pistons to TDC and then do the valve seals? Or will the drop down too far to pull them back up?
    • One thing I can tell you is, do it properly the first time. If you encounter unexpected problems just let the car sit for a week or two if you have to get some other parts or figure stuff out.  I'd have said go and use as many OEM parts as possible but since you want to change the turbo later on a custom kit is probably the better choice. Since I have no experience with RB25 just compare parts diagrams and images before buying a line kit and it should be easy to see if it has everything you need. Amayama has very good parts diagrams and part number lists, that is what I used a bunch to figure out what I might need. And don't forget to plan ahead and possibly renew other stuff that's easy to get to while you're in there doing the turbo lines. Happy wrenching
    • Update 4:   Hi all, good news. Engine is running and all the gaskets and seals seem to be working as intended. No leaks so far, even the JB Weld seems to hold. I flushed out the old coolant a few times and put in fresh coolant, not Nissan stuff, I decided to try the Ravenol Protect FL22, they claim it works for a wide variety of JDM cars and the opinions on it by some people were pretty good. And it has the nice poison green color! And man am I glad I bought a coolant system tester earlier this year, vacuum filling works wonders on this engine. I can definitely recommend this to anyone still doing it the old school way. All you need is compressed air supply. Will have to do a small test drive as soon as I can, I removed the gauge cluster again as the tacho needle was still bouncing around a bit but it was much better than before already.  I also found some cracks on all 4 tires inner and outer sidewalls. Apparently these tires should 't be parked on for extended periods or be kept under 0 degrees during storage, which I did not know. Clearly the previous owner didn't look into those details either, he probably bought them just cause they are cool semi-slicks. I'm just wondering how tf I am supposed to reach 30-80 degree tire temperatures on the public road consistenly, these tires were never going to work for my use case. I'll probably order Continental SportContact7 ones as these are the best allround summer tire available right now and I don't think I'll need anything crazier for now. Do let me know if you have experience with various tires and which ones you recommend.
