lol i really dont know why you guys give her so much shit :(

being envious is sooo hard for some, sometimes.

this could honestly go on for soo long, and you say i need to harden up,

uniqueness is one thing not many people can have because they prefer to be sheep in the flock.

i would prefer to be that black sheep who dosent follow the follow the flock

envious... :(;):) Sorry but no.

While it was a smart ass way of saying it. Being unique does not mean its a good thing.

Just to get close to a mildly modified turbo car you will be looking at anywhere from $8000 up. If you have that much cash just to throw away on being "unique" then hey go for it.

I guess the other option would be supercharger, it will make close to a turbo and have a nice power curve. Not as much top end power but hey better bang for buck than giggle gas and N/A, plus its in there you don't have to worry about taking the tank in and out, much less likely to get defected.

*This is not "giving you shit" this one is constructive criticism*

im pretty sure she aint the type to drag every set of lights so i dont think the temperary power of the nos is really an issue. clearly the woman likes car shows and thats what its for.

chucking a turbo on a na skyline sounds a lil lame ta me. i mean you can prob go out n buy a turbo 1 for cheaper, what would be the point of paying more for something pretty much identical.

please dont tell the guy that, that stuck a RB25DET in my car im sure glad he did

+1

well said

+1 all that matters is Cara enjoys driving it and show'n'shining it

if i wanted a turbo car i would go buy one, the prices of the R34 GTT's have come down a bit now, so it would be cheaper to go buy one instead of chucking a turbo onto my n/a engine, which i will agree is quite lame really, and a waste of time.

and in my eyes being unique is a good thing. your obviously one that follows the flock and wouldnt know a thing about uniqueness............a keyboard warrior perhaps?

not everyone buys a car for power you know, unlike your self who obviously has power issues and thinks that having the most power makes you the best person in the world..............well me thinks not, however yes it might be impressive, its not like im gonna bend down and kiss your feet because of it.

i have a different approach to what i consider power to be, and what i use it for is very very different to obviosuly what you use it for. If i choose to throw shit loads of money into my non turbo, that is my decison, that is what makes me happy, but it also makes me stand out a little more than everyone else who has a turbo....................which is fine by me.

i am not afriad to be unique, you however are.

and your so called "constructive critism" , place it on someone who gives a damn, cause i dont. If i wanted constructive critism, i would go see the people who actually do stuff to my car, and dont a keyboard warrior.

1) Power is not everything, I never said it was, I have said that just to be unique does not mean that it is good. What you get and for the money you spend on it N/A is not worth it. I don't have massive amounts of power, never claimed to

2) Afraid to be unique... don't make me laugh, you don't know the first thing about my car because unlike you I don't need peoples approval from other people about it :)

3) While we are on the subject of you knowing about it... what do I use my car for ?

3) "but it also makes me stand out a little more than everyone else who has a turbo....................which is fine by me." - Yes but being the smartest kid in the retard class is not a good thing. ;)

4)If you don't want criticism about your car why post about your shit and what you are doing on a public forum ?

So over it, you obviously have your way right or wrong its a big meh. You want to continue bring it to PM, I will be more than happy to discuss it. Otherwise, its done :(

im pretty sure this has all been heard before and discussed in another thread bout 2months ago. i think she's heard advice n made her choice

if you wanna complain bout things people do to their car look at the 1 seater convertable wrx with air brushings underneath the car, who the hell is gonna see those other than your mechanic so he can know to overcharge you.

and another great idea being convertable you can look like a loner and everyone can see you :( not to mention the gear stick between ya legs so it looks like ya jacking yaself off (anyone he looks at while driving would have to be a bit freaked out)

You have to be kidding!

NOS has to be the best 'Bang for buck' option on the market. Name another mod that can give between 50 - 250hp for around 1G?

If you think you can supercharge an RB and ever get it through regency (although technically you should be able to) you havent been involved in modifying cars for very long, either that or you have an excess of BUMB. A supercharged line is a defect waiting to happen, and more likely to be noticed than a line with NOS.

Another question: - why the concern about having to refill the tank? at 14lb boost you roughly double the fuel used compared to no boost, I've never heard of this as an argument not to turbo a car.

NOS is a great way to get aditional torque and power out of any motor, especially NA, and its there when you need it. My car has 250rwkw, but I very rarely use that many, so much like NOS its only there for the few times I need it.

On another note think of the money she is saving each year on insurance, it would more than pay for all the NOS you use in the year.

    • No. Turbo shuffle and surge/flutter are not the same thing. Specifically, on a GTR, turbo shuffle has a definite meaning. On a GTR, the twin turbos are assumed to be the same thing and to operate the same way, exactly. In reality, they do not. Their exhaust sides are fed and exhaust a little differently, to each other. Their inlet sides are fed and exhausted a little differently, to each other. Consequently, when they are "working" they are often at slightly different points on the compressor map compared to each other. What this means, particularly when coming on boost, is that one of them will spool up and start producing extra flow compared to the other, which will put back pressure on that other compressor, which will push the operating point on that other compressor up (vertically). This will generally result in it bumping up against the surge line on the map, but even if it doesn't, it upsets the compressor and you get this surging shuffle back and forth between them That is "turbo shuffle" on a GTR. It is related to other flutter effects heard on other turbo systems, but it is a particular feature of the somewhat crappy outlet piping arrangement on RB26s. There are plenty of mods that have been attempted with varying levels of success. People have ground out and/or welded more material into the twin turbo pipe to try to prevent it. Extending the divider inside it works, removing material doesn't. There are aftermarket replacement twin turbo pipes available, and these exist pretty mush purely because of this shuffle problem.
    • You can temporarily* use lock collars to keep it in place until you can do the bushes, back the nuts off, slide them in, snug back up. *temporarily is often for ever
    • Thanks for the quick reply. To be clear, when you say turbo shuffle do you mean turbo flutter "stustustu" or referring to something else? I had thought they were the same thing. When I wrote the post my intention was to say it wasn't a flutter/compression surge sound. My understanding was that a flutter sound would be occurring when throttle is released, whereas I can keep the throttle in the same position for this noise
    • Hi everyone, I've been wrestling with this for a while now and have been trying to find out the cause. For context, the turbos used are Garrett 2860 -5s, the BOV is a BNR32 HKS SSQV IV kit, the car is currently tuned to ~470 whp on 17.5 psi. The car drives normally, pulls well when it doesn't happen, and I can replicate it fairly easily. It does not sound like turbo shuffle or flutter. The engine has only a thousand or so miles and has had this behavior since it was completed. After my engine was built for my R32 GTR, I noticed that the car now sometimes makes an air discharge sound on what appears to be positive boost pressure that sounds really similar to a BOV. I had thought that it was a BOV issue but even when replacing it with a brand new unit, the sound persisted. It seems like it's coming from the passenger side but I may be mistaken. The closest scenario I could find was this post here https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/ started by @yakshii and it sounds very similar. As in, at partial throttle once I reach positive boost I begin to hear the same psh psh psh psh psh sound like air is leaking somewhere when I keep the throttle in the same position. It most commonly happens in 4th gear at around 3-3.5k RPM and 5th gear around 2.5-3k RPM, which seems to coincide with normal positive boost thresholds. It might be similar to what @Austrian GTR mentioned about his own HKS SSQV. Notable difference would be that when he applies more throttle when it happens, it stops. In my scenario if I apply more throttle during this repeated psh psh psh sound, the cadence of the sound gets faster and louder rather than stopping. If I lift off slightly and apply throttle again, it will normally stop and pull without issue. I've checked all rubber couplers to ensure that they are tight, but have not gotten the opportunity to properly do a pressurized boost leak test. If anyone has had similar experiences or thoughts on what might be the cause, I'd be very keen to hear them. I also have a video of it happening from inside the cabin, if that would make it easier to understand: https://youtu.be/2zqZXcx8jbA
