Maybe URAS will state his commercial interest, if any, in this subject. I'm always interested in informed and unbiased opinion or criticism as I guess are most others.

Its not clear to me exactly what Jantolis' problem is anyway. From my discussions with JB any road car clutch should have a sprung center even though this can be a weak point from a straight out performance aspect.

A friend of mine works exclusively with clutches

He says the full monty is with out a doubt effective...just that the sum of the part numbers should equall about half of what Jim charges...but if he charges it and people are hapy to pay who cares!

My problem is i don't like the feel of my new clutch and was after an opinion of weather to try a lightened flywheel or replace the JB clutch with The twin plate i originally had. It is still working and has meat on the plates. I don't have the money to waste to just chuck around on getting the lightened flywheel and installing it. I only got the clucth because i was in need of one desperatley(long story) and didn't have to many other options.

It seems most people would keep the JB clutch and possibly try out the lightened flywheel.

It does seem a bit pricey but there is a lot of attention to detail eg the metallic facing are from one particular maker and each one is checked for trueness. Apparently they are sometimes not quite straight. Then he uses those excellent Wurth locking washers, and so on..........

im currently running about 190wk, but im putting in a new computer in the same time as well, so should be around the 200 mark..

then ill be driving that power for a while i recoken

An ORC single plate will be good for you. If not maybe you can try for the basic jim berry clutch then. Not the full monty :D

What about the feel of it don't you like?

This is what im thinking also. Most of the 'feel' is the lack of response which is attributed to the flywheel, not the clutch.

If its jerking when disengaging, possibly you need to adjust the pick-up point?

Im sure a quick buzz to Jim and...

- telling him the clutch you have

- informing the problems/feel that you do not like

... Will result in a pretty good plan of action :D

Possibly something is worn? Not set right?

I've driven so many cars, with many varying clutches.

And i cant say only two ive ever 'disliked', both were twin plates with far too harsh clamping pressure/poor pickup points. :P

nismo

osgiken

centreforce

tilton

sachs

clutchpro

is that being objective enough..... and JB uses some the above components in his.... so its not like im paying out something i cant get... in fact some of my stores by his gear.

i have just swapped an ORC twin for a Nismo Super Coppermix twin.

The Nismo has a std slave cylinder, and is as light as the standard clutch.

It doesn't rattle when engaged or disengaged, and barely shudders on pick up.

Progressive, feels great, and virtually un-stallable.

The perfect street ~600ps clutch - can be used every day, all day.

SWEET and much easier than the ORC!

i have driven on a few JB clutches up here in brisbane. and i can say they are bloody awesome. single plate holding 1000hp.. hmm sounds good..

my fav was a RS liberty with a JB clutch was amazing made the GTR seem like puss both with all 3 pedals.. lol

It's a different world, mate and you know it. Can I walk into any Autobarn and buy a custom made clutch to my specifications from any of the major manufacturers you mentioned? If so, then you already understand the benefit of a clutch built to suit the application and I don't understand the blanket recommendation that other brands are superior to his clutches.

Blanket statements are what destroys otherwise sensible advice on internet forums.

    • I have more than enough digging, laying blocks, moving gravel, airrating, feeding and top soiling the grass, and setting up the veggie gardens growing some seedlings,  and then removing all the unused rock to keep me busy for the next few months at least,  hopefully the rain stops soon so I can get a few hours in this arvo, but, before that Sunday is washing day, is every body happy, you bet your life we are Nice country road day drives are a day off whenever I'm muscle sore from all the landscaping at the moment, but, more epic multiple day drives will start once the majority of the big jobs outside are completed
    • I hear that would involve some nice country road drives into the hills for Mark...
    • I thought I'd come back and add something I JUST learned. A Toyota LandCruiser with a 1HZ, mates perfectly with a bottle of Nulon brake fluid. As in, it perfectly screws in. Great make shift funnel when you cut the bottom of it off. This may work for your Corolla.   Unfortunately, tipping a 10L drum is much harder than a 4 to 6L bottle, and they no longer include the easy pour tap which was just perfection to use previously.
    • Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?
