Fitting Vg30 To Rb20

Hi all,

Put a VG30 on my Rb20 but the standard 90 degree elbow onto of the Rb20 turbo doesnt fit onto the VG30 turbo.

How to I do about getting something to fit?

grab an rb25 front compressor cover and bolt it on.

if thats not an option then get a 90 degree silicon bend from anywhere that sells them or get someone to weld a 90 degree steel bend onto the vg30 front cover.

You would have to check this (not at home to look at my R33) but don't 33's have an elbow bolted to the compressor covers outlet ? Not certain but reasonably sure that the RB20's ceramic BB turbos housing has a three bolt outlet but the holes are on a slightly smaller PCD than the RB25/VG30 BB turbos housings . If you can find one the RB25 elbow possibly bolts to the VG30 comp covers outlet .

yeah the rb20 elbow has a slightly smaller pcd. as a quick fix so you can get it running untill you can source something else. you can drill out the rb20 elbow bolt holes to a larger size untill you get the bolts to pick up in their threds.

i had to do this untill i got a rb25 elbow when i put a rb25 turbo on my rb20. its not ideal but it doesn't leak and gets you going.

Thank you all very much for you help. Just going to use a 90 silicon bend for now but might change that in the future.

Huddy: Its killing me man, everytime I go to do something there is some other issue that I didn't know about. BUT I am getting there and I will be a VERY happy little chappy when its going. I just hope its sooner rather than later.

RB25 elbow fits VG30 comp cover. I'm not sure if RB25 comp cover would swap over though as RB25 turbo has a bigger compressor.

ooo yeah btw This is all done and dusted. pulled 197rwkw on 15psi ill have to check when full boost is by.
