Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to get an english sticker kit to maybe replace the Jap symbols on the nav buttons?

I know that there was one made for the Toyota Soarer Nav...

Maybe could get something from the Infiniti G35....

Just thoughts.

Probably a stupid idea.

give me a high res photo showing the letters clearly on the buttons and I can translate it for you, then you could get them made up

I agree, top idea!! I was thinking the same myself but im laking in mates who are fluent in japanese....

I would have settled with the stick on label maker option.

As for hi-res image ill let you know tomorrow when i find out if im getting a V35 :P

used the photo chris posted

from left to right...

top row:

button 1: Guide

button 2: 2 Screen (Split Screen?)

button 3: Bird View (Bird's Eye View?)

button 4: Vehicle Information

button 5: Map

button 6: Menu

bottom row:

button 1: Image Quality

button 2: TV :)

Dunno what it says on the joystick, I can't see it properly

no, yours was actually a translation, that other thread was just "this is what it seems like the buttons do"

put them together to give us the best of both worlds!

now.. let's find the person who makes the soarer sticker kit and get them workign for us..

they're americans... eeeewwww

here;s an aussie company.. don't know if they make them though:

Yeah that's what i'm on about.

Let's hit them up to do a set for the V35.

I'll email them today and find out who to talk to.

i've contacted a guy on eBay who also sells the soarer ones and he says he is an agent for "brave auto japan" and they make the soarer stickers

i have asked him if they make V35 ones and waiting to hear a reply

will keep everyone updated

K just got a reply back from Luke at driveandview.com - UK based company.

"Damien,

I can manufacture the stickers as I have a 350 Skyline head unit screen in stock but the price would be more than the Soarer stickers due to less interest.

I estimate the price to be 20 pounds per kit? Lead time approximately 5 weeks.

What you guys think? About $45 bucks AUD.

Want to get some numbers together so we can let him know how many to make?

Cheers,

Damien

i'm keen also as stated..

let me get a further quote from this guy selling them on eBay who imports them from japan

also, we need to decide on a definate word for each button as most can only fit a small amount on them

i'm thinking..

top row:

1 - nav

2 - split

3 - view

4 - info

5 - map

6 - menu

bottom row:

1 - image

2 - tv (or nothing?)

3 - zoom in OR zoom +

4 - zoom out OR zoom -

5 - back

any thoughts or changes?

cheers,

Warren

Yep sounds good to me.

Why not take a look at the infiniti g35 buttons to see whats written on them. Would the translation be the same from Jap to English as the infiniti?

    • Yeah, but look at the margin in viscosity between the 40 and the 60 at 125°C. It is not very large. It is the difference between 7 and 11 cP. Compare that to the viscosity at only 90°C. The viscosity axis is logarithmic. The numbers at 90 are ~15 and ~35. That is about half for the 40 wt oil and <half for the 60. You give up viscosity EXPONENTIALLY as temperature rises. Literally. That is why I declare thicker oil to be a bandaid, and a brittle one at that. Keep the oil temperature under about 110°C and you should be better off.   Having said all of that, which remains true as a general principle, if you have indeed lost enough oil from the sump that the pump was seeing slightly aerated oil, then all bets are off. That would of course cause oil pressure to collapse. And 35 psi is a collapse given what you were doing to the engine. Especially if the oil was that hot and viscosity had also collapsed. And I would put money on rod or main bearings being the source of the any noise that registered as knock. Hydraulic lifters should be able to cope with the hotter oil and lower pressure enough to prvent too much high frequency noise, although I am willing to admit it could be the source.
    • Thanks for the reply mate. Well I really hope its a hose then not engine out job
