hey guys,

long story short, i have bought a set of 6 s15 injectors of a SAU user, and now it seems that 2 of them are from an S14 and are ever so slightly different. have spoke to nissan and they havent got a clue on how to tell the difference. just wondering about getting them flow tested somewhere around in adelaide?

p.s, they are all a redish brown colour on top, but have different coloured tips. 4 are grey and 2 are a sorta olive greyish kinda colour. and the 2 odd ones also have different serial numbers on top to the other 4.

don't worry about the bottom of the injector. If the tops, where they plug in to the harness, are a reddish terracotta-brown then you should be right. just as long as they are not purple as they are 380cc stock skyline/s14 injectors. You'll probably find that if you try to get them flow tested they'll want anywhere from $20-$35 an injector as they'll sting you for a clean as well.

Someone was asking a few months back about red ones, but they were a alot brigher red than the dull red/terracotta colur of the S15's

Are the 2 odd ones extra bright in red colour?

I think the bright ones were from an auto s14 and were only like 270cc or something.

wolverine,

He didn't say he wanted them cleaned, he said he wanted them flow tested. Buy the time you buy the 6 injectors get them cleaned you may as well have bought new ones.

My injectors were not cleaned before installed. I checked the spray pattern all good, no leaks from the pintle under 60psi pressure, engine has a good idle, AFRs are safe, saved myself a heap of cash got the outcome, I wanted power on a budget, so I'm all for 2nd hand injectors, but thats just my opinion.

understand completely. When i first started my project i was going all out, and learnt futher on in the project to only pay for what i need. I was going to go for the nismo 555cc injector option but decided when i dont wanna push anything over 250kw at wheels, the 480cc s15 injectors would be fine.

By the way i have my car in turbo tune at the moment, they are going to flow test the injectors first then tune her up for me. Hoping they are all 480's :P

i don't see how saving $20-25 per injector (ie. $120-150) is saving a heap of money but if you are comfortable with end result then that's what counts.

you said getting stung for an injector clean and i wouldn't call it being stung. it's just my opinion that if they are handling them to flow test they might as well, for an incremental cost, remove the risk to engine damage.

    • I have had the r3c in for years now, maybe close to 7 years and it has never missed a beat, anyone can drive it. Super easy to drive around town, the hotter it gets does get a little hard but it holds the power easy as
    • Shit thing to find eh? I guess the big issue is that whatever "fix" you do now, it might slow the rust down but won't fix it. I just wanted to add that in no way is fixing sheet metal in 3 dimensions the place to start with welding....that is a pro only job because its too hard to work out where things should be, let alone doing a clean enough job that it can look OK and still be strong too.  I needed to get a new rear quarter panel on the GTR and it took a pro weeks to get the old one off cleanly, new one on in the right place and looking somewhat like it should have with most of the previous connecting panels in place. Gluing a couple of bits of metal together with a welder in the garage is doable, but that is totally different to doing panel  replacement
    • This seems to be a very popular swap since all the turbo skyline prices went through the roof! I'll let someone more familiar chime in, but I understand that yes you probably want to swap the loom in to swap out the auto TCM stuff. You should not assume everything just plugs in either, you need to check at least the ECU wiring diagram for any differences at the plug at the left headlight and probably the ones near the ECU that join the dash loom too
    • hows it fellas, my first post here which seems crazy cos half the forums i read are like the same age as me haha. to make a long story short ive got an r34 sedan (rb25de neo auto) which im swapping to a s0/s1? rb25det, r33 big box and nismo gt pro lsd. i have the motor and gearbox all bolted up outside the car, old motor and trans out. i bought the motor with stock ecu and loom, do i switch over to that? or will it be easier to get a r34 manual ecu and keep the loom if thats even possible.  also engine mounts look different, anything else thats different or incompatible? cheers, hope this all makes sense Paddy
