That just seemed like one of those dodgy late night commercials where people get payed to pretend they actually mean what they are saying :( jk

Ill try em out when the Toyos run out.

:) you'll see, I know I sound like a w@nker at times, but I get to experience it first hand cos I'm frequently swapping between the RS's and the so called 'good quality' Falkens (track to street) between races - I always stall longer than I should to switch back to the falkens because my RS's feel better, even in the wet. I'm only swapping back to wear out the new falkens that came with the car, not because I think they are better on the street.

How do the 595RS's life performance go on the street? What is the average km's people have achieved on them?

Even though 595RS is a street legal tyre it is more focused towards track use, therefore giving it a fairly short life when compared to a street tyre.

You will find that a relatively soft UHP (ultra high performance) street tyre like the 595 (240 tread wear) should last you about 30,000km if you look after them.

A comfort tyre (not as soft as UHP) is usually around the 420 - 500 treadwear range which will inturn give you around 50,000km of life.

However you do usually sacrifice overall dry grip when you go for a longer life tyre.

The 595 RS has 2 different tread wear ratings depending on size - 140 / 180 which usually results in you getting about 15,000 - 18,000km out of a set (depending on how much time you use them on the track).

I always advise against using the RS on the street as they perform at their best when they are hot and street driving will NOT get them hot enough to reach their full potential, but they are street legal so the choice is yours to make.

(these are estimations based on treadwear and proper tyre maintenance, if you do not rotate your tyres or check pressures regularly you will not get the desired life from them).

I hope this helps :D

Well another Champion has chosen Federal Tyres -

NSW Drift Series Champion joins forces with Federal Tyres

Nathan Weissel, winner of the 2007 NSW Drift Series and 8th overall in the National Drift Series, has joined forces with Federal Tyres as his major sponsor to contend the 2008 series.

After competing using Federal Tyres in his early days of drifting, why has Nathan switched back to Federal Tyres?

“I tried other brands but the Federal tyres are still my favourite,” said Weissel, “they give me the best level of grip and control and do not suffer with heat like other brands.”

Nathan will use Federal 595 Ultra High Performance tyres on his Nissan Skyline R32, with 235 / 40 ZR18 on the front and 265 / 35 ZR18 on the rear.

“Federal Tyres engineered the 595 Competition Series tyre to handle the abuse of drifting,” explained Brett Quodling from National Tyre Wholesalers. “The 595 provides responsive performance at high speeds and exceptional adhesion and control when needed while withstanding excess heat from wheel spin.”

Nathan will compete using his new Federal Tyres at the first round of the 2008 Drift Australia Series at Symmons Plains Raceway in Tasmania this weekend.

Special thanks go also to ACL Race Bearings, Wolf ECU's, Motul Oils, Stamford Wheels, GCG Turbo's and Sign Design for their support.

Theres only like 1 corner at Symmons plains, how do they compete there? seriously, I was there a few weeks back, it really only has 3 corners all up and theyre no where near each other. Maybe if they drifted from the final corner all the way past the start/finish, over the bump/right hander and into the left hander, but that would be a bit boring.

Just an update on the new 595RS-R that so many of you have been waiting for!

Stock is arriving now of selected sizes - 255/40R17 is the first size that we have recieved in stock which just happens to be the perfect fitment for GTR or the rear of GTSt (with aftermarket wheels).

595RS-R is the new evolution of the 595RS, the casing of the new RS-R has been reinforced with a steel belted sidewall to reduce flex and provide a much better footprint on the road in extreme conditions (such as track racing or hillclimb).

The treadwear has also been reduced from 180 to 140 making for a better performing tread compound and stiffer tread blocks which helps reduce tread squirm and improve steering feel and responsivness.

You can find more info at www.federaltyres.com.au or call your nearest Federal Tyres retailer. :D

The 265 / 35 R18's wont be in until we sell out of the RS and we still have quite a few of them left.

When the RS sell out they are replaced by the RS-R so there could still be a wait on some sizes.

I have regular 595's on mine at the moment. They are pretty good not that I have had that many other tires to compare to. I have gotten pretty good life out of my rears with over 25,000km's and still loads of tred but my front have worn down pretty fast they are at about 60%. This is regular street driving mind you. 235's on the front and 255's on the rear.

How much are the 255/40R17 RS-R's out of curiosity?

Im glad to hear that you are getting some good mileage and performance from 595's :)

Sorry but I dont quote prices on the forums, try contacting Trojan Motorsports in Mitchell if you are in the ACT for a quote.

    • I thought Australia got rid of the "drag dodgy fuel up to 91 RON with ethanol", which is why all E10 advertise as "up to 94 RON" ? Anyway I put E10/91 in the missus' Mazda because she empties the tank weekly, when all my cars get 98RON. tl;dr - turbo - 98 RON, if you can't afford that, sell it and get a commuter car (or tune your car for 91, which no one does).
    • Yeah i found that alot of parts can be wrong or "very" hard to get the real right one. I already bought some brakes years ago on me "old" GT calipers and they were wrong too 😄  I told them too. Even send them pictures...but they said "EBC catalogue has them on my car... So i dont know what their answer will be. I call monday them and let them know that they are really not on my car. If they were they would be already on a car...
    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
