Hey,

Just abit about what i've done.

Sold my R34 GT-R Brakes a while ago and fitted a complete brake set from a Mercedes-Benz AMG.

I got 8-Piston Monoblock Brembos and 4-Piston Brembos from it.

Also 365mm Rotors for the front and 355mm Rotors for the rear.

Brackets were custom made and designed to fit as the Merc brackets weren't suitable.

At first the 18's wouldn't fit, but managed to get them over now with a bit of room to spare. I think it looks better than if i had 19's on as the brakes fill the rims nicely.

What do you all think?

*No Sour Lemons please. Pm me for that stuff.*

That's some hardcore brake pr0n - nice one.

Why did you choose this setup over one of the high end bolt on kits? A bit of adventure?

i like. excellent to try smething differnt.

questions

1. $ front, rear, and custom brackets (PM me if you want)

2. bolt pattern the same?

3. rotor thickness front and rear

4. master cylinder changes?

5. what's with the valves on the black wheels being truck valves that face inward? lol

nice.

as coincidence would have it i just spent last week on the phone trying to track down a set of these to do precisely what you've done. nothing available, even o/s. you must have better search skills.

or an ebay account

Thanks all for the comments.

MrKotter:

Chose this setup cause it was something different, thats why i didn't re-paint them and change the look. I wanted to show where they came from :(.

High end kits? I prefer these, i know the quality must be superb, real brembos and from the weight of mercs, i know they should stop any car with ease + they are 8-piston and 4-pistons anyway.

Ronin_09:

The bolt patterns were/are the same. Didn't need to modify the rotors.

Not sure how thick the rotors are but will measure when i get the chance.

Mastercylinder didn't need changing.

LOL. The valves, don't ask. Nothing wrong with inward facing valves ;)

Mr Keets:

Yeah. n00bs - wtf is that? Must be a E(uro)-Spec.

Scooby:

Keep trying, they will turn up. Try getting the rotors as well.

or go ebay like FunkyMunky.

FunkyMunky:

No rotors there.

Cheers to all!

Noooooooooooo! I just bought a Brembo F50 front kit on Jap Yahoo.

Simon I agree, keep them the way they are; if it's good enough for AMG it's good enough for the GTR. Can I ask how you went adapting the handbrake? Not sure of the AMG offset but the Falcon GT-P and Viper SRT10 rear 355mm disc offsets are similar to the GTR if you need discs down the track.

The handbrake had no problems whatsoever. Remove and re-attach as if you were replacing.

Are the Brembo F50 kits any good?

That's amazing. I got hold of a new F6/R4 Brembo BA FPV GT-P set up and while the front was going to be relatively simple the rear disc offset was a lot different. In the end I decided I'll onsell them at some stage. Nice brakes though. I got quoted $1000 per end to have caliper brackets made up for the big Brembos, that was part of the reason for deciding to move them on.

The F50s are OK I guess, biggest 4 pot I'm aware of and run a 355mm disc. They are on the BA GT-Ps also. The thing was the kit comes with two peice hats and Brembo brackets, so it's a drop-in fit.

Owgasm

how far do u have to push the brake peddal befoe it goes hard ?

did u change your master cyl ?

Before the brakes lock up/are in motion or like as far i can push until i can't anymore?

master cyl wasn't changed.

$1000 per end :ermm:. Geez.

I see why you sold them.

The kit is all round or just fronts?

sorry to ask a stupid question.. but are the rotors back to front?

don't you want the curves of the vanes facing backward, rotationally, rather than forward?

You got me all worried. Got me thinking hard. Looking at the picture.

The right rotor is rolling ->> that way. therefore the vents are facing / . I think thats what i've placed it as.

Hard to explain. But i think its correctly done already. Else its just a very late night already.

    • I've got a 2011 J50 that I imported six years ago. The unmodified factory AV system date and time has always been correct ( Japanese timezone of course ) up until last month. About two weeks ago, at engine start, the system wished me a happy new year ( in Japanese of course ). I can't think of anything that would make the system think that the date had changed, unless the GPS component has failed/reset somehow ? I checked the GPS reception in the system settings, and it can still see the satellites. Has any other J50 owner had this happen ?  It's no biggie, just annoying that it tells me the wrong date anytime I start the engine. 😅
    • Love following your adventures on IG, hopefully if you're still around in Japan when we visit again wouldn't mind going for a few beers with you (that's if you're keen on hearing how I hate Nissans).
    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
