thinking of selling the r33 and getting a BA xr8 in the new year.

im just after a newer car, with somewhat power and a nice cruiser. il probably just put a nice deep full exhaust on it and keep it fairly standard. And manual ofcourse.

what do u guys think of the BA xr8? or xr6t?

yeah great family cars :ermm:

I actually had trouble judging the front of the XR8 with the bonnet bulge...maybe cause Im a short ass but thats all I had trouble with, other than that was nice.

Depends on what you want to do with it... definitely do not agree that xr6t> xr8 from a mod viewpoint.. for 5k u can get the twin turbo kits for the xr8's which bump power to 440ish.. the xr6's are faster stock.. but the xr8's sound a hell of alot better

i was looking at an XR6T a few months back... they are alright, build quality is poor, and be prepared for things to shit themselves... but the car was pretty quick for a stocker... 5k and youll have more than 300kw easy! rims and suspension and your onto a winner.... they are just weight disadvantaged

XR6T is a great cruiser with decent power, ive had mine 2 years & have never had a drama ( warranty FTW ) . Mine has 250 odd rwkw with minor mods ( reflash, intercooler upgrade ). Traded it yesterday on a New VE SS, been ages since ive owned a V8! Good time to pick up a XR6T. The new falcon is due in March/April so the market will be flooded with trade ins.

twin turbo kit 4 5k... come with el cheapo ebay turbos and PCV piping?

value for money power wise on a XR8 u have the Powerdyne kit,

$4000 blower kit

$1500-2000 exhaust

$750 flash tuner

(not 2 mention all the other nasties suprises ul run in2 along the way) <-- clutch

=$6250-6750 for roundabout 270kw@rears

http://www.capa.com.au/kits_ford_ba_xr8.htm

but aint XR6T's making that sort of power wid jus:

$500 exhaust

$750 flash tuner

$500 FMIC

$100 pod

$20 boost controller on 12PSI

Total =$1870

and u can do all that quiet easyily with minimal tools in your back yard.... and pull off once again just as quick

but some would say the roar of a V8 is worth the coin (like me) but ford V8's sound shit compared to holdens so XR6T it is!

if u do end up with a BA or higher jus keep a tow truck card in the centre console becuase they have a problem with there diffs....

and stay away from the 5speed its rubbish!

    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
    • Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
