typical yanks. throw a 7L engine into a car that doesn't handle, but somehow we still rock! the new corvette is the only vet thats been able to take a turn at speeds more than 10km/h. even in Grand Turismo 2 and 3, no one drives a corvette they SUCK!

hmm they love there corvettes , the Z06 is a fierce thing i must admit and handles pretty darn well but these guys have very narrow minds, at least the boys on LS1 took there hats off and paid respect...

so is the TG mag like a precursor to the episode where they're actually HAVE the GTR on?

as in, is the mag article a spoiler for the episode?

The quotes in the first post sound VERY promising :P Competing against a F430 Scuderia in what will be it's "slowest" trim...... that's some freaky shit right there considering what's to come from this car!

ill be honest guys, when i first saw the specs for this thing i was a little doughtfull it will deliver but after reading this little quote from the mag i am very satisfied and take my hat off to nissan for there effort...

(sorry if my grammar is shite , extremely shmashed as im writtting this)

TG Mag and TG TV Show don't always agree... half the journo's in the mag work for Fifth Gear... the ones that are qualified drivers :(

"You know what? Who gives a crap what a corvette race team did? Anyone really think thats going to help them out on the street or track against a GT-R???? I guess after you get your ass handed to you then you can always catch up at the next light or in the pits and say "You whipped my ass but the corvette has a great racing heritage!""

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA lovin corvette forum

lol its like a forum for rednecks... sweet. Altho Boost_TT sounds like a 350Z loving douche with no opinions of his own. I'd kick him in the e-nuts too.

found some more recent reviews from Journals in Europe. If these European journals are impressed with the GTR, than i guess the whole world would be.

British auto journos declare Nissan GT-R dogs bollocks

"The first round of reviews hit the 'Net yesterday in what was apparently a Euro-only embargo on driving impressions of the Nissan GT-R. The jurors from AutoExpress, Car and the Telegraph all came away from the drive with one resounding statement: this thing is fast! Adding that the brakes are the most impressive of any production car currently on sale. Lofty praise, no doubt.

While Car could barely contain its enthusiasm, AutoExpress and the Telegraph seemed to provide a more honest critique of the GT-R as a whole. AE's Oliver Marriage and Car's Gavin Green had some diverging viewpoints on how the GT-R handles low-speed cruising, but both recommend that jaunts around town are best when the seven-speed gearbox is left in "D." AutoExpress' scribe and the Telegraph's Andrew English were less than impressed with the ride quality of Nissan's new supercar, despite the dampers being set to "comfort" mode, with English saying that "even a Porsche 911 GT3 rides better."

A few other choice quotes include Green saying that the GT-R is "quick enough to make a Porsche 911 Turbo feel unexciting," continuing, "Quite simply, the new GT-R is the world's most multi-faceted supercar... An M3 beater? Easily. M5? Think higher. This car is faster, more high-tech, sharper, more capable."

We absolutely, positively can't wait to get behind the wheel."

So here I was getting excited - "LA 2007: U.S.-spec Nissan GT-R huge performance bargain at $69,850" - Autoblog

but then "The GT-R will also be expensive, at least in the UK, where the proposed windscreen sticker will almost double the £31,000 Japanese price. Nissan is thinking of setting up barriers to stop anyone who plans to import Japanese models personally." - telegraph.co.uk

So.. the price could be anywhere between:

from US - 69,850 / .80 = ~90,000 AUD based on 1AUD = 80c US which is a little pesimistic considering where they may be going financially. So potentially a good price signal from US. :laughing-smiley-014: :nyaanyaa:

OR

from UK - ~ £62,000 / .430 = ~ 145,000 AUD. :):)

maybe it will average out to be ~$120,000 (or $130,000) which is what I would expect.

Maybe i'll have to forego buying a house.... because I think I need this car more.... dunno if I should mention that in front of my significant other.

Great find these articles, good reads. I'm excited about this GTR big kev style bless his soul (maybe) :w00t: .

Also interesting that last sentence from telegraph quote.

GUH!

Americans should stick to being fat.. they only released 2 solid sports car.. both of which the engines are re-hashed in every other sports car, even today.. and even the original cars shit themselfs when they get to a corner!\

Gosh im looking foraward to seeing Clarkson thrashing the GTR

you'll be lucky to have change from $150K if you're buying one here.

And for those serious and holding out for the V-Spec, it's not going to be a slight increase like the older GTR's, the V-Spec is going to be realistically a track only car, with a HUGE premium over the base model, you're talking 5mil yen, so don't look for much change from $250k for the V-Spec version, but considering what'll do, it will still be cheap comparatively. Cannont wait for the V-Spec, supposedly late 2008 we'll see it

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
